All outfits in Mario Kart World & how to unlock them

Mario Kart World features 50 different characters, all of which have their own unique stats that make them better than others. But for some personal customization flair, there are different outfits you can unlock for your favourite racer, too.

How to unlock outfits in Mario Kart World

Character outfits are unlocked in MKW by using Dash Food — which can be found during races or out in the open world during Free Roam Mode — from Yoshi’s Diner’s (including stalls and huts) or even on truck ramps.

You can also obtain them by obtaining Dash Food at random when driving through a powerup box containing one of the game’s many items. The item you get is tied to the location you collect or receive it in.

Which costume you receive is linked to the specific location you’re in, as well as which food item you receive. Receiving a stack of donuts, for example, can unlock an item in different areas of the map depending on the character you’re playing as, whereas we’ve found others to be locked to a specific location, like Mario and Luigi’s ‘Happi’ outfits.

Not every character has an unlockable outfit (NPCs like Cheep Cheep are excluded, for example), but in the list below, you’ll find details on which of the 30 tracks you can unlock each character’s particular skin at. Unless specified otherwise, a costume can be found at a Yoshi’s Diner located in the mentioned track. Where relevant, we’ve also mentioned the type of food.

Multiple costumes can be obtained from the same location (as you will receive a different food item, sometimes from the same spot), and different types of food can give different outfits also, so keep reading for a list of where we’d recommend getting them.
