Valorant Mobile was announced during the game’s first anniversary, as part of developer Riot Games’ plans to expand their flagship first-person shooter onto new platforms. Now, almost five years on, Valorant Mobile is finally upon us and we’ve got the full rundown on all there is to know.

After years of anticipation, Valorant is now playable on Mobile. Well, sort of. At the time of writing, the port is only available in the Chinese market. But still, its release has garnered plenty of attention for all the new bells and whistles attached, yes, including a replay system.

It’s been years in the making and at last, we now have plenty of insight into how it all works on handheld devices. Here’s everything you need to know.

What is Valorant Mobile?

Just as they have with their staple MOBA, League of Legends, Riot announced plans in 2021 to “expand the [Valorant] franchise” to make it accessible to “more players around the world.”

In 2024, Valorant made its first expansion outside of PC with the full release of the console port, complete with crossplay amongst different systems.

Anna Donlon, Valorant’s Executive Producer, revealed: “One of our top goals this first year [2020-21] was to earn the trust and respect of the global FPS community and to prove to them that Valorant will always uphold the fundamentals of a truly worthwhile competitive tac-shooter.

“To see our growing player community recognize and appreciate what we’re trying to do with Valorant is beyond what we could’ve expected, and we’re thrilled to soon offer the same competitive Valorant experience to even more global players.”

Valorant Mobile will bring the FPS game to more communities around the world in due time.

On April 21, 2025, Valorant Mobile officially launched in China. Players in the region are able to enjoy the full Valorant experience in their hands, albeit with plenty of unique adjustments to make the tactical FPS work on touchscreens.

Is there a global Valorant Mobile release date?

While the game is now available in China, there’s no indication as to when it may release for the rest of the world.

“We’re excited to bring Valorant Mobile to as many players as possible, but we’re starting in China and taking it from there,” the official Valorant account shared on April 21, 2025. “We will, of course, update you as our plans develop further.”

Depending on how it’s received in China, this could mean a full global launch by the end of 2025, or perhaps a much longer road than that. We’ll be sure to give you all the latest details here as new intel emerges.

For those hoping to use a VPN to access the Chinese version of the game, you’re likely out of luck there too. Registering for the game requires an account for social media platforms WeChat or QQ, a Chinese phone number, and then a VPN on top.

Valorant mobile beta

Yes, there was previously a beta for Valorant mobile, though again, exclusively in China.

During a series of tweets on April 7, 2022, credible Valorant leaker DannyINTEL revealed that Valorant mobile has officially gone into testing stages in China. In the images posted with the tweets, we see various loading screens and an actual in-game screenshot that shows the mobile UI.

Danny also revealed the Agent selection screen, which shows various Agents such as Jett, Phoenix, Reyna, Breach, Skye, Sova, and Killjoy playable during the playtests. Though it’s unclear if other Agents are in the game yet.

Further leaked screenshots revealed more of the mobile UI. While the Valorant port does come with a full By Menu akin to the version on desktop, there’s also a ‘Quick Buy Menu’ designed just for handheld devices.

This new system appears to give three distinct options for rapid purchases between rounds. For prices ranging from 2,600 to 3,300 Credits, players can buy preset packs containing weapons, armor, and abilities.

Even more leaks then came in September 2022, including a listing on the Google Play Store for the first time. The new details explained Valorant Mobile is currently accessible to a small number of players, all of who are under NDAs.

On July 10, 2023, a leaker and data miner partnered with Reporters On Duty claimed that Tencent has stopped Valorant Mobile’s development and that Riot Games has taken the reigns in its creation. He said the title is being remade from scratch at their LA studios alongside its console team.

On June 5, 2023, the Twitter account hesketh2 claimed that Valorant mobile had been approved in China under the name Valorant: Operation Primal.

Valorant mobile gameplay leaks

Over several days in early September 2024, footage from the beta in China leaked giving us our very first looks into the beta.

In a full recording of its gameplay from leaker sleepysoul, we can see the game mostly plays out the same as regular Valorant, but with its UI changes up to accommodate a phone of tablet.

According to the leaks, the game runs at 120 FPS on an IPad and Android phones, which is comparable with the average PC and console experience.

Additionally, there were already skin bundles in the game’s shop, which sees many skins from the PC in the port.

In the beta, there was a replay viewing system that lets players go back and watch past matches, complete with stats and KDA. This is a highly requested feature on PC, but mobile players got first dibs.

More details about Valorant Mobile’s global expansion are sure to drop in the coming months and we’ll keep you up to speed here with all the latest.
