Riot GamesRiot Games has revealed Waylay as Valorant’s new Agent 28, showcasing additional details about their abilities and more. Here’s everything we know so far about the character.
When Valorant first started out in 2020, players had 10 agents to choose from as they went into battle on Future Earth. That has changed in a big way in the years since. There are now 27 agents to choose from.
Tejo was the latest to be introduced. The Initiator has already become a big part of the shooter’s meta, much in part thanks to his devastating Guided Salvo ability and Armageddon ultimate.
The Colombian agent was only released in patch 10.00, though, but Riot has already revealed Waylay will be the next new Agent coming to Valorant.
Riot reveals Waylay as new Duelist Agent
On March 2, Riot revealed the full Agent showcase trailer during the live broadcast for the Masters Bangkok tournament. It presented Waylay as a brand-new Duelist coming in the next major update.
The developers also announced that the new character will also be available to be used for all VCT Leagues for Stage 1, which starts on March 13, 2025.
Waylay Valorant release date
Riot Games confirmed that Waylay will be added to Valorant on March 5, 2025, as part of the Valorant Season 2025: Act 2 update.
The Duelist character will be added at different times based on your region and timezone, with exact times yet to be announced by the developers.
Valorant Agent 28 abilities
Riot has revealed four different abilities for Waylay: Refract, Light Speed, Saturate, and Convergent Paths (Ultimate). All of these moves for Agent 28 are broken down below, with gameplay clips showcasing each ability.
Refract
Using Refract while playing as Agent 28 causes the character to: Instantly create a beacon of light on the floor. Reactivate to speed back to it, with invulnerability.
Light Speed
When activated, Light Speed causes Waylay to: Equip and Fire to dash forward twice. ALT Fire to dash once. Only the first dash can be sent upward.
Saturate
When performed by Waylay, this ability will: Instantly throw a light cluster that explodes upon contact with the ground, hindering enemies with a movement and weapon slow.
Convergent Paths (Ultimate)
This ult’s description reads: Equip and Fire to project a beam of light that expands. After a brief delay, you gain a powerful speed boost and beam expands, hindering other players in the area.
Agent 28 teaser in Dawn of the Duelist
The new agent was originally teased as a part of the Dawn of the Duelist cinematic for Masters Bangkok as Tejo could be seen to be messaging them.
“This crew has potential, but they’re not you. Stand by,” his message reads as he, Phoenix, Brim, Vyse, and Raze are seemingly headed to Thailand.
On top of the new agent’s hand being seen when receiving Tejo’s message, there are outlines of them floating around in the short cinematic.
There was also a reflection in Raze’s eyes that some fans believed was related to their potential abilities, given there is another look at a crystal tunnel with colors that match that reflection.
The new Waylay Duelist Agent is set to shake up the Valorant meta, depending on their strength. However, we’ll have to wait and see how they influence gameplay following the patch.
