DOTA 2 caster syndereN fired shots at Pirate Software regarding some stream drama, but he didn’t do it on his own time. Instead, he did it while filling time during an actual pro match.
Synd has been a DOTA 2 caster for over a decade, having bounced between pro play and a spot on the desk to stay in the scene. He’s been around for a long, long time.
As such, it should come as no surprise that he’s very comfortable on the broadcast and isn’t afraid to say some bold things. But this extended past criticism of players or teams in the game – no, he directly called out Pirate Software during an actual broadcast.
While filling some downtime during a match between Team Spirit and Tundra Esports at PGL Wallachia, syndereN went out of his way to reference Pirate Software allegedly cheating his way through single-player games.
Pirate Software gets called out during DOTA 2 pro match
To provide context on what Thor was getting called out for, the streamer sparked controversy after solving a puzzle in Animal Well within minutes. One that took the game’s collective community a few weeks to solve.
Pirate Software has denied that he looked up the solution instead of solving it on his own, maintaining that it was 100% authentic that he figured it out by himself.
However, it’s safe to say DOTA 2 caster syndereN doesn’t believe him.
“Have you ever played Animal Well?” Synd asked his co-caster. “There are some insane secrets in that game you’ll never discover on your own. Unless you’re Pirate Software, in which case you’ll just figure it out all on your own. Randomly, you’ll just go AFK, you’ll come back 5 minutes later, and you’ll just figure out a puzzle that took the community 3 weeks to do,” he claimed.

However, he didn’t leave it there. The next day, during a match between Tundra and Team Liquid, Synd brought the reference right back.
“I’m on the list,” he joked after throwing another jab at Pirate Software.
Pirate Software responds
Pirate Software has responded, referring back to a video he made defending himself on the topic:
“We solved Animal Well together as a community and had a blast doing so. I explained as such both in a pinned comment on the video and in another follow-up video refuting all of the attacks I keep getting for weird shit like this. @syndereNDota the f**k is your problem?”
For context on the original video, Pirate Software explained that, “I don’t just solve these, I build them,” referring to the cryptographic puzzle in Animal Well.
At the 21:40 mark, he explains how puzzles like these work and used that knowledge to explain how he could have come to this conclusion to solve it so quickly.
