Sheridan has some incredible features in his collection. Hell or High Water was an Oscar-nominated neo-Western, and his hit thriller Sicario is currently making a comeback on the Netflix charts.
But there’s another movie by the Yellowstone creator that’s well worth checking out, and it even stars a Yellowstone cast member for old times’ sake.
The best part is, you can watch it for free.
Wind River is available for free on Hoopla
Wind River, released in 2017, is widely regarded as one of Sheridan’s best movies, which he directed and wrote. It stars Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen, as well as Kelsey Asbille, who plays Monica Dutton in Yellowstone.
It’s not an easy watch, inspired by the horrific number of real-life Indigenous women who go missing or are killed across the United States and Canada.
The Weinstein CompanyRenner stars as U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Agent Cory Lambert, who discovers the body of a young woman in the wilderness. An investigation ensues, and as he teams up with FBI Special Agent Jane Banner, they begin to learn the horrible truth behind Natalie’s murder.
Right now, Wind River is available to stream for free on Hoopla. (To access this app, all you need is a library card!) It’s also on Fubo, so if you’re already subscribed to that streaming service, you can watch it on there, too.
Wind River is well worth checking out if you’re going through the Taylor Sheridan collection. With 87% on Rotten Tomatoes and an award from the Cannes Film Festival, it’s one of his best.
