What time is Yellowjackets out? Full Season 3 release schedule

Lottie in the Yellowjackets Season 3 finale

Yellowjackets Season 3 Episode 9, ‘How the Story Ends’, has just aired, meaning the finale is just around the corner – as always, it’s going to get hectic. So, here’s what time it drops so you don’t miss a thing.

The wait for the third chapter felt long, especially as production was delayed by the writers’ and actors’ strikes of 2023. However, nearly two years later (and two months longer than the Yellowjackets were stranded in the wilderness), Season 3 is here.

To refresh your memory, Season 2 ended with an almighty shock: adult Natalie’s death. In the ‘90s timeline, the Yellowjackets survivors went full cannibal as they succumbed to the wilderness, eating Travis’ baby brother Javi. Oh, and their cabin got burned down.

In Yellowjackets Season 3, summer has arrived, but the mood is anything but happy, leading to dire consequences in the past and present timelines. Warning: spoilers ahead for Episode 9!

    • “Things turn frigid as bloody new alliances get built and spilled. It’s our time, right now, down here in the new Queen’s court. Eat up, drink deep, and descend.”

Speaking about the progression of the story, Ashley Lyle – who co-creates Yellowjackets with husband Bart Nickerson – told THR, “The first season, you’re just trying to get a show made and that’s incredibly difficult.

“Season 2, we did try, as much as we could, to put in the back of our heads that Season 1 had maybe made more of an impact than anyone anticipated. But with Season 3 we and the entire writers room were like, ‘F*ck it, we’re just going to do what we think is fun.’”

What’s in store for Yellowjackets Season 3 Episode 10?

In the past timeline, the girls are preparing for one final hunt. As we know, their rescue is fast approaching, though they don’t know it yet. The promo shows Shauna declaring, “We have to show the Wilderness our respect” – is the Pit Girl scene about to unfold?

As for the adult Yellowjackets, they’ll undoubtedly be dealing with the fallout of Van’s death, while still scrambling to keep their dark secrets quiet.

Yellowjackets Season 3 Episode 9 saw tensions between those who want to leave and those who want to stay reach a boiling point. Natalie, Mari, Gen, and Akilah attempted an escape plan, giving Hannah a knife to cut herself and Kodiak free during the night.

But when Shauna catches them, the situation escalates. With a gun pointed at her, Hannah stabs and kills Kodi – the only one who knows how to get home – before turning to Shauna and pleading, “Please. I want to be a part of this.”

With Kodi dead, their only hope now may be a rescue team. In the final moments of the episode, Misty digs out the black box transponder she destroyed back in Season 1, hoping to use it to fix the phone the strangers brought with them. This could be their ticket out of the Wilderness.

Still, don’t expect them to be rescued just yet. Although winter has officially arrived, the timeline suggests they still have a few months left in the woods. And judging by the promo, Shauna and Lottie are once again in control – and planning another hunt.

Shauna in the Yellowjackets Season 3 finale

In the present-day timeline, Tai, Van, and Shauna tie Melissa up while they decide what to do with her. Van steps outside, but when she returns, both Tai and Shauna are unconscious – Melissa shut the fireplace flue, cutting off their oxygen.

Van revives Tai, banishing Other Tai in the process, and saves Shauna. But when she goes to confront Melissa, she can’t bring herself to kill her. In a shocking twist, Melissa murders Van instead.

Whether Tai will seek revenge remains to be seen. The promo shows her stabbing someone, but given the show’s blurred lines between visions and reality, it’s hard to know what’s real.

In another clip, she says, “She’s going to be the last one standing,” though it’s unclear whether she’s referring to Shauna, Melissa, or someone else entirely.

One thing’s for sure: the Yellowjackets Season 3 finale is going to be carnage.
