Ghorman is an important location in Season 2 of Andor, and there’s a simple reason why you can’t understand the planet’s language.
As Andor works its way towards the events of Rogue One, Season 2 has focussed on a planet called Ghorman.
In Episodes 1-3, we learned of Director Krennic’s chilling plans or the Ghormans, which have their roots in a WWII summit where the Nazis came up with their so-called ‘Final Solution.’
While in Episodes 4-6 we watch those plans play out, via the actions of Syril Karn and Dedra Meero, as well as the Ghormans who are countering them, in the planet’s own curious language.
The inspiration for the Ghorman language explained

Viewers will be unable to understand the Ghorman language, because it’s entirely made up by Andor’s dialect coach Marina Tyndall. Indeed, according to StarWars.com, “Ghor is only translatable if you understand its spoken component.”
Two versions of the written Ghorman language were created – Ghorelle (High Ghor), and Dixian (Low Ghor) – and they are named after Andor graphic designers Elle McKee and Lauren Dix.
The language does have its roots in reality however, as Ghorman is based on French and Italian, whose WWII revolutionaries resemble the freedom-fighters in the series.
Andor showrunner Tony Girloy previously spoke about the creation of the Planet Ghorman, revealing the different elements that combine to make it a convincing location in the show, where disaster and tragedy are fast approaching.
“We’re going to build another really super-complicated, ornate planet with a language and an economy and all these things, and it’s expensive to do that,” Gilroy told IGN. “It has to be over five episodes at least to make that worthwhile. It’s a really significant part of our show. That’s the construction of it. We want to make it as heartbreaking and dramatic and as essential and important as it can possibly be.”
