With Venom 3 now streaming on Netflix, here’s why we’re unlikely to see a Venom 4 in the near future.
The Venom trilogy has been a hit for Sony and Marvel, albeit a franchise of diminishing returns, especially in terms of box office.
The first Venom movie grossed a whopping $856 million, sequel Let There Be Carnage made $507 million worldwide, and the global total for The Last Dance was $477 million. But with budgets of $100-120 million apiece, all three films turned a healthy profit.
In spite of that success however, here’s why a fourth Venom movie is unlikely to happen in the near future. Warning, SPOILERS for Venom 3 ahead.
Will there be another Venom movie?

There won’t be a Venom 4 anytime soon because the creative team behind the movies – writer-director Kelly Marcel, and actor Tom Hardy – have completed the story they planned to tell.
Marcel, who wrote all three movies and directed The Last Dance, told IGN: “From the beginning, Tom and I always envisioned that this particular Eddie/Venom story would be told in three parts and the story arc would climax with the third film.”
Hardy also believes that there’s no more tale to tell, explaining to ScreenRant: “Everything that you see in The Last Dance is from Kelly’s imagination, and mine too. But there’s nothing left out. It’s surgically chosen and delivered.”
There’s also the pesky problem of the title character being killed at the end of that third movie, though there might be a way around that…
What could happen in a potential Part 4?

Venom 3 ends on a broken test tube that previously contained a sample of the alien symbiote, meaning Venom could return, attaching himself to a new victim, or returning to Eddie.
Alternatively, Part 3 does set up the villainous symbiote Knull, and Kelly Marcel believes that character could spin off, telling GamesRadar: “We’ve always been fascinated with Knull. He’s obviously the father of the symbiotes, so you can’t really do the symbiote movies without him, but he’s also way too big to be one and done.
“So, it’s just a little introduction to him. It’s just a kind of taster of where he might potentially be able to go with his own movies, in the same way that they introduced Thanos very carefully through the Marvel movies.”
While there’s also a very slim chance we’ll see Hardy as Venom again in someone else’s movie, and that’s if he gets his wish of one day punching Peter Parker. “I want to fight Spider-Man,” Hardy announced at New York Comic-Con 2024. “I want to fight Spider-Man right now. I’m well up for it… Never say never!”
