It may seem a little difficult to pin down exactly when Daredevil: Born Again takes place in the MCU timeline – but it’s simpler to work out than you think.
Marvel may have cancelled Netflix’s Daredevil in 2018, but Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk have appeared in other projects; namely, Spider-Man: No Way Home, She-Hulk, Hawkeye, and Echo.
It’s been nearly 17 years since the franchise began with 2008’s Iron Man. There have been 35 movies and 14 TV shows (not including Netflix’s Defenders projects, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., or any pre-Disney Plus series).
In other words, keeping track of the MCU timeline can be a bit of a headache – but that’s what I’m here for.
When does Daredevil: Born Again take place?
Daredevil: Born Again mostly takes place between 2025 and 2026.
This is really easy to work out. Hawkeye took place around Christmas 2024, and Echo jumped ahead five months to mid-2025.
In Echo’s post-credits scene, Fisk watched a news report about the mayoral race in New York and how a “bare-knuckle brawler would do well… an outsider, someone who is not afraid to take on the establishment.”
We know Fisk successfully becomes New York’s new mayor in Daredevil: Born Again, so it has to take place in the same year: 2025.
In one of the trailers, Fisk can be seen addressing the city on giant screens in Times Square – and the billboards also say, “Happy New Year!” So, it’s safe to assume Born Again’s story will take place across 2025 and 2026.
There’s a possibility that the series includes scenes that take place before the main breadth of the story, but 2025-2026 is its main setting.
