When Calls the Heart Season 12 hid a secret pregnancy for one major character

We all know the next generation is a huge focus in When Calls the Heart Season 12 – but there’s one baby featured who shouldn’t be there at all.

If anything, it was the little ones who gave reason for When Calls the Heart to exist in the first place. Elizabeth Thatcher (before she was Thornton) arrived in Hope Valley with the simple dream of becoming a school teacher, and she’s changed local education singlehandedly since.

She’s spurred Allie to come out of her shell, taking on Lucas and the Cattlemens Association in recent episodes, alongside making sure Little Jack doesn’t lose who his father was.

But what if there’s another child accidentally joining the ranks? There’s one hiding in plain sight, and technically, they shouldn’t be there.

If Faith looks pregnant in When Calls the Heart Season 12, she isn’t

Faith has hardly been in When Calls the Heart Season 12, but when we’ve seen her, there’s every classic telltale sign she’s pregnant. In fact, Faith isn’t – the show is trying to hide actress Andrea Brooks’ new baby.

Brooks has been documenting her journey over on Instagram, sharing, “Watch me grow a baby during the filming of Season 12 (and NO my character is not pregnant)!” during the show’s premiere. She later added, “We may or may not have resorted to safety pinning my costumes together at the very end…”

The clips show the progression of her bump under her costume, giving birth in November 2024 – just weeks after When Calls the Heart finished filming. Alongside announcing the birth of baby Angus, other co-stars also congratulated Brooks for not going into labor on set.

Pascale Hutton posted a photo of her in an Instagram Story, writing, “She made it folks! It’s a miracle! That’s a wrap on @andreakbrooks.” In another Story, Brooks added, “Update: Did not go into labor on set!!!! That’s a wrap for me on S12 folks!!!”

Hearties might remember this isn’t the first time Brooks has been through the same situation, previously having to hide her second pregnancy during filming for Season 10.

“Our lovely set costumer @costumearchivista made a slide show of Faith’s continuity photos from Season 10 (these are essentially behind-the-scenes photos for costume reference) to show the ways we disguised my baby bump in 2022,” she also posted on Instagram.

“We’ve been referencing these photos throughout Season *12* as we’re once again all on bump patrol (the props are getting bigger my friends). I’m excited to see what the continuity photos look like this time around. Shoutout to the most incredible wardrobe/camera/prop department in the biz. I keep them busy!”

In Episode 8, Fiona asked Faith to be maid of honor at her wedding, which was promptly called off. Instead, we saw Faith and the rest of Hope Valley see Fiona off as she left for a new radio job in Port Townsend.
