4 huge predictions for When Calls the Heart Season 12 finale

Rosemary and Elizabeth smile in When Calls the Heart

It’s the moment we didn’t want to come, but our time in Hope Valley this year is almost over. But before we get there, we’ve made some huge predictions for the When Calls the Heart Season 12 finale.

Have you calmed down after Episode 11 yet? Neither have we, but thankfully Little Jack is now on the mend in When Calls the Heart. Season 12 has been a time of big change in Hope Valley, firmly planting the small town in a brand-new decade.

As always, Elizabeth has kept her cool amidst the differences. She’s pretended to be someone else to help Nathan take down Toddy Davis, she’s stayed strong through Jack’s ill health, and she’s more committed to Nathan than she ever has been.

Experience tells us that something big – and romantic – usually comes with a season finale. But what will it be this time? Here are our four major predictions for the When Calls the Heart Season 12 finale.

Nathan proposes to Elizabeth

Of course… this is exactly what we all wanted to happen! There’s nothing like family tragedy to bring two people meant to go the distance even closer together, and Little Jack’s health scare seems to have made Nathan realize how much he wants Elizabeth.

The couple only made their public debut in the Season 11 finale, but this is a classic timeframe for When Calls the Heart. Remember, Lucas and Elizabeth had got together, got engaged, and called it off all in the space of two seasons.

On top of this, the Episode 12 preview suggests and romantic proposal of some kind is on the cards. “Tonight, this grateful calm just came over me,” Nathan explains. “It’s you. You’re what I think about all the time.”

Truth be told, this is a match made in heaven. Nathan has never let his blended family down, staying by Elizabeth’s side through the darkest of times. He loves Little Jack as if he were his own, with it clear Allie loves Elizabeth just as much.

Frankly, there’s nobody better suited to Elizabeth since Jack died. If we cross our fingers hard enough, we might just see Nathan put a ring on it.

Rosemary, Bill, and Nathan find the Garrison gold

Obviously, the Garrison gang plot has been something we’ve seen a lot of over Season 12. It all ties back to the Great Train Robbery of 1907, with various sketchy figures around Hope Valley selling wares in the form of double-headed coins that were taken at the scene of the crime.

Once Sonny Garrison escaped from prison, he used Allie and Oliver to try and track down a missing treasure chest hidden by his brother shortly before they all went to jail. Unbeknownst to them, Edie’s late uncle Ernie got there first, meaning the hiding place was empty when Sonny got there.

With Sonny now back in jail, only one mystery remains – where on Earth did Ernie stash the gold? Bill and Nathan are now closer than ever to getting the answer, and with Rosemary’s help, there’s no stopping them.

Little Jack takes a turn for the worse

Let’s face it, we’d be a bit naive to assume one successful dose of newly invented insulin would suddenly make all of Little Jack’s problems go away. Diabetes is a lifelong condition, and that was still effectively a death sentence in the early 1920s.

It’s incredibly unlikely that Hallmark would actually kill Jack off, but he’ll certainly have peaks and pits in his health. Picking up where we left off in Episode 11, Jack’s likely still very weak thanks to what he’s been through, needing a long period of time to build his strength back up.

We can also guess something bad might happen thanks to the above image. It’s a preview look at Episode 12 – Jack still looks as fragile as ever, and neither of them can run away from their problems.

If When Calls the Heart wants a Season 13, keeping Jack’s health in some form of peril is the obvious way to go. Nobody wants to end Season 12 with uncertainty around a six-year-old boy, so what better trump card could Hallmark play?

Lucas and Edie finally kiss

The romantic tension has been brewing since the very first episode of Season 12, and it’s high time either Lucas or Edie made the first move.

Edie came into Hope Valley as a natural enemy for Lucas. Working for the Cattlemen’s Association – who oppose pretty much everything Lucas is trying to push through – she’s personally tied up in McGinty’s long-lasting effects on the Martell ranch.

Regardless, she’s managed to get herself free from it as much as possible. Edie might have been frosty towards Lucas initially, but she recognizes him for what he is: a really good guy. On top of this, there’s clearly an organic chemistry here that both of them are denying.

Now they’ve got their baggage out of the way (Lucas is no longer governor, Edie no longer works for the CA), they can start to enjoy each other. Edie still isn’t out of the woods with the consequences of Ernie’s past, and finding out where he hid the Garrison gold will likely make Edie and Lucas realize what a great pair they are.
