“Unfinished” Minecraft movie leaks and goes viral after viewer finds pirate copy

Attacking Piglins in A Minecraft Movie

If there’s ever been a good reason not to watch a pirate copy of a movie, it’s this. “Unfinished” scenes from A Minecraft Movie have gone viral after one fan found them on a bootleg… and they don’t look great.

It’s no secret that the Minecraft movie isn’t going to be amazing (it’s not), but that’s not stopping it from being on track to gross millions at the global box office. Initial critic reviews have been mixed, with Minecrafters more optimistic for the journey to the Overworld that lies ahead.

So, claims that fans are seeing an unfinished version of the new film online, which have since gone viral, come as something of a surprise. For those who haven’t yet seen Minecraft on the big screen, it’s just another reason why they shouldn’t part with $15.

But what can you really expect when you pay out for a ticket? Breathe a sigh of relief – it’s not what one fan found on a pirate copy.

“Unfinished” Minecraft movie CGI leaks, but one rumor is completely wrong

As A Minecraft Movie’s “unfinished” scenes take the internet by storm, we can confirm that what you will see in theaters is absolutely 100% a finished film. Sure, the CGI could be improved, but it’s a done job nonetheless.

One fan took to X/Twitter to share, “AM I WATCHING THE RIGHT VERSION OF THE MOVIE WHY IS THE CGI BAD FOR MINE WHEN THE OTHER REVIEWS SAID IT WAS GOOD? Why did they add an unfinished version of the Minecraft Movie in theaters bro.”

However, this is completely false. As a community note clears up, these stills came from a pirate copy of the movie which circulated prior to the film actually being finished. The tweeter later came clean too, revealing, “Aight I just pirated this, I was assuming it was some guy recording it in theaters when it came out, I thought this wasn’t a test screening (the watermark is from the pirated movie I’m not advertising).”

Regardless, this hasn’t stopped fans from freaking out. Another replied, “Omg please tell me this is real screenshots. It looks so laughably bad that it’s going to be fun to watch (like once). I’m thinking of that Super Mario Bros movie from back in the day. Like it’s so bad, it’s almost good.”

The cast of A Minecraft Movie look off into the distance

“Oh god, the one thing they accurately got right about any video game was the unfinished release,” a third weighed in.

A fourth commented, “They really dropped the ball with that one, hopefully, they fix it before the next screening.”

Does this mean Minecraft fans are completely out of the woods when they go to watch the real thing? In a word, no.

As one fan put it, “Just been to see #AMinecraftMovie… welp. Kids/fans were hollering and clapping at times, but I had an abysmal time with it. Painfully unfunny, poorly acted, terrible CGI (aside from the Minecraft world itself), and a bland storyline make up most of the runtime. embarrassing.”
