The Way Home Season 4 is finally renewed, but there’s bad news

Teen Kat in The Way Home Season 3 finale

Victory! Hallmark has answered the prayers of Ponderers and renewed The Way Home Season 4 at the last moment. However, there is one small catch.

We still haven’t seen The Way Home Season 3 finale as of writing, but Hallmark has confirmed the renewal of Season 4 less than 24 hours beforehand. Samantha DiPippo, Senior Vice President of Programming for Hallmark Media, said in a statement. “Our talented writing staff led by the mother-daughter showrunning team of Heather Conkie and Alexandra Clarke continues to amaze us as they raise the bar each season.

“Their carefully crafted storytelling filled with family drama, romance and an absorbing mystery has enthralled the show’s passionate fanbase and has made The Way Home appointment television. We can’t wait for them to see where the pond takes our time travelers as their journey continues.”

After months of petitioning and social media campaigns, efforts of The Way Home fans have paid off. That being said, there’s a slice of bad news that comes along with the good.

The Way Home Season 4 won’t be out until 2026

This is the virtual hug I’m giving you while I gently break the news – we’re definitely getting The Way Home Season 4, but won’t be able to watch it until some point in 2026.

In a video posted to Hallmark Channel’s socials, star Andie MacDowell confirmed “We could not be more excited to bring you more romance, family drama, mystery… and of course, time travel. See you all in 2026.”

Given this is so early in the game, we don’t have anything more than a vague release window for the binge-worthy TV show. Based on the show’s previous release strategy, we can take a good guess at exactly when it will drop, however.

Seasons 1-3 of The Way Home have all released between January and March. While Season 1 debuted on January 14, Season 2 was the latest release on January 21. Season 3 came incredibly early compared to these, dropping on January 3.

At this stage, there is absolutely no reason to think Season 4 won’t follow exactly the same pattern. The Way Home is a core part of Hallmark’s winter release schedule, alongside rival comfort show When Calls the Heart. As the saying goes, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

While we have no further information on Season 4 yet – though the upcoming finale will likely inspire a few certain storylines – we’re in for an emotional end to Season 3. Co-showrunner Heather Conkie told TV Line it “is probably one of the most emotional [episodes] in the entire history of the show. We’re very proud of it… We can honestly say it answers a lot of questions.”
