Get ready to see the Last Supper on the big screen, because The Chosen Season 5 has arrived in cinemas – and this is a full breakdown of its theatrical release schedule.

This is a pivotal chapter of The Chosen’s story. It will chronicle the events of Holy Week; that means we’ll likely see Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem and his cleansing of the Temple, and it’ll almost certainly conclude with his arrest in the Garden of Gethsemane, setting up the crucifixion in Season 6.

It’s also a turning point for the show. Last year, the fourth season screened in cinemas before its streaming release (making millions of dollars at the box office in the process). Now, Dallas Jenkins has entered into a new agreement with Prime Video, making Amazon’s streaming service the series’ official third-party partner.

Don’t worry, it’ll still be available to watch for free… eventually. Until then, you’ll need to catch The Chosen Season 5 in cinemas.

The Chosen Season 5 theatrical schedule explained

The Chosen Season 5 will be released in three parts between March and April 2025. Specifically:

  • Part One: March 28
  • Part Two: April 4
  • Part Three: April 11

Don’t worry if you can’t go to the cinema every weekend to watch every new episode. According to the show’s official website, “once released, all three parts will remain in theaters for the duration of the theatrical run.”

So, come tomorrow (April 11), you’ll be able to watch all of the episodes on the big screen.

This will be the show’s final theatrical release under Fathom Entertainment, which has helped the series gross over $72 million worldwide. “People looked at me like I was crazy. But we had done our research and we knew the potential,” CEO Ray Nutt told Variety.

Why Easter weekend is perfect to watch The Chosen Season 5

To celebrate this year’s Easter weekend (April 19-20), The Chosen Season 5 will be available to watch in its entirety in participating cinemas.

According to Variety, “theaters will offer ticket bundling packages so moviegoers can commit to the full run for a special rate.”

In other words, don’t worry about forking out the money for three separate tickets. However, discount rates may not be available in every theater, so check your local cinema before turning up.

“It’s just amazing to me that people will pay for a movie ticket to go see it. It’s a tribute to the quality of the content,” Nutt added.

“The production value is huge. The storytelling is beyond belief. And there’s people from all religions and sectors that come to see this – it’s not just Christians.”

How many episodes are there?

There are eight episodes in The Chosen Season 5, exactly the same as Seasons 1-4.

“In Season 5, before things start to turn, we get to see Jesus stir some things up, topple down some of the structures and some of the people that are used to their power,” Jenkins teased.

“That phrase, ‘God’s gonna cut you down’… it’s not from scripture, but I think it makes for a nice theme for Season 5.”

Is The Chosen screening in IMAX theaters?

Yes! The Chosen Season 5 will also premiere in 250 IMAX locations across the US, so you can enjoy the new episodes on the biggest screen possible.

Is The Chosen Season 5 coming to cinemas outside the US?

Yes, The Chosen Season 5 will be available to watch in cinemas in international territories… but there’s a catch.

Only Part One will premiere in theaters and it won’t arrive until April 10. It’s unclear why this is the case; the website has advised fans to “stay tuned for more information on when the remaining episodes will be available.”

If you want my advice, I’d mute any social media channels that may spoil the new season for you until you get to see it yourself.

This echoes what Dallas Jenkins warned about The Chosen’s streaming dates in international territories – and speaking of…

When is The Chosen Season 5 on streaming?

The Chosen Season 5 will be available to stream on Prime Video in June 2025, as confirmed by Dallas Jenkins.

“Sometime in early to mid-June, Season 5 will be released on streaming here in the States exclusively on Prime Video,” Jenkins said during a Facebook Q&A.

In another livestream, Jenkins explained: “As part of this deal, in exchange for what Prime Video is bringing to the table, it will get the first exclusive streaming window after the theatrical release. So, for 90 days, it will be on Prime Video in the US.

“So, after the season finale, there’s 90 more days, and then it will be in The Chosen app.”

So, if you want to stream Season 5 for free, you may have to wait until September 2025.
