Netflix has some great new movies joining the platform in March 2025, but one addition is perfect for Taylor Sheridan fans.
It’s been a non-stop run of fresh releases for Sheridanheads over the last couple of months. From Landman to Yellowstone and Lioness to 1923, there’s been plenty of new episodes to watch when it comes to his best TV shows.
But then again, it’s easy to forget that the Yellowstone creator began his creative journey on the big screen. With plenty of incredible neo-Westerns under his belt, it might be hard to pick where to start.
Thankfully, Netflix knows what’s up, and the streaming service is adding his best movie very soon.
Sicario drops on Netflix on March 1
On March 1, Taylor Sheridan’s Sicario will be arriving on the streaming service. The Yellowstone creator wrote the crime thriller, which Denis Villeneuve directed.
Starring Emily Blunt, Benicio del Toro, and Josh Brolin, Sicario follows a seasoned FBI special agent who gets roped into taking down an infamous and powerful drug cartel leader in Mexico.
After it was released, Sicario was quickly credited as being one of the best movies of 2015. It would later compete at the Cannes Film Festival and was even nominated for three awards at the Oscars, including Best Cinematography, Best Original Score, and Best Sound Editing.
The thriller was the first installment in Sheridan’s unofficial “Frontier Trilogy”, and was followed by Hell or High Water in 2016 and Wind River in 2017.

At the time of writing, Sicario has maintained an incredibly high Rotten Tomatoes score at 92%. It was also a box office success, earning $84.9 million worldwide against a $30 million budget.
A sequel, Sicario: Day of the Soldado, was released in 2018. A third movie, Sicario: Capos, has been in development for a number of years, though updates on this have stalled.
