The long-running animated series was on shaky ground amid the ongoing bidding war between Paramount and HBO Max, sparking fears South Park Season 27 would get delayed as a result.
However, mere hours before the new chapter’s debut, Parker and Stone inked a $1.5 billion licensing deal with Paramount Plus, meaning all 26 seasons are now on the streaming service, and new episodes will head there after airing on Comedy Central.

South Park Season 27 Episode 3 release date & time
Episode 2 of South Park Season 27 airs on Wednesday, August 20, at 10pm ET/PT on Comedy Central. It will be available for streaming on Paramount Plus the following day, August 21, at 6am ET/3am PT.

All new episodes of Season 27 will follow this release time schedule, with single episodes dropping weekly – unless there is a delay. Episode 2 arrived a week later than normal due to the fast turnaround of the show, and the same goes for Episode 3.
This isn’t out of the ordinary. South Park episodes are written, animated, and voiced in just a matter of days, allowing Stone and Parker to respond in real time to current events, but it also means delays aren’t unusual.
In addition to this, Episode 3 was due to drop on August 13, but this was pushed back due to the date marking the 28th anniversary of South Park’s premiere. Instead, Comedy Central hosted a full day of reruns.

In recent years, South Park seasons have been noticeably shorter, with some chapters only running for six episodes or focusing on standalone specials.
This shift came as Parker and Stone balanced their massive Paramount deal alongside an ongoing tug-of-war between HBO Max over streaming rights.
But with Season 27, the show is back to a traditional format, with the recent five-year $1.5 billion licensing agreement including 50 new episodes across five seasons.
Speaking about the deal, Stone said (via Deadline), “Trey and I and the whole South Park crew are grateful for this extension and this deal.
“We want to thank Chris McCarthy and Keyes Hill-Edgar for years of great partnership and are looking forward to continuing to make South Park for the next five years.”
Parker added, “We are grateful for this opportunity and deeply honored by the trust placed in us. This is about more than a contract – it’s about our commitment to this organization, our teammates, and our fans.”

Why you should watch South Park Season 27 Episode 3
If there were any doubts about South Park losing its edge, Episode 1 blew them straight to hell – literally. Within minutes, the hit TV show had the internet in meltdown mode after depicting Donald Trump in a relationship with Satan.
But it’s the ending that really ramped things up, showing a fake ad of live-action Trump walking through the desert naked before his “teeny-tiny” penis speaks and “endorses” the message.
In Episode 2, Trump and Satan returned, while Cartman became Charlie Kirk, Mr. Mackey joined ICE, and Krypto the Superdog got shot dead.
They’re the kind of episodes that remind you why South Park has stayed relevant for nearly three decades – Parker and Stone aren’t afraid to cross the line, redraw it, and then set it on fire.
