Heigh-ho, heigh-ho, it’s off to the cinema we go to see the live-action remake of Snow White – but if you want to stream on Disney Plus, this is how long you’ll have to wait.
Disney can’t stop giving its animated classics a fresh lick of photo-realistic paint. Last year, we got Mufasa: The Lion King, a prequel to the live-action remake that made over $700 million.
They’ve not all been winners (critically and/or commercially), but the studio’s next one is a biggie: Snow White, a live-action do-over of its first-ever animated movie, starring Rachel Zegler as the titular princess and Gal Gadot as the evil queen.
Will it be one of the year’s highest-grossing movies, or will it flop? Time will tell – and it could affect its streaming timeline.
When the Snow White remake should arrive on Disney Plus
The Snow White remake should be available to stream on Disney Plus by July 2025 at the latest. There’s a chance it could drop on the platform earlier if it underperforms at the box office, but it won’t be any sooner than June 2025.
While this hasn’t been confirmed by Disney, you can look at the studio’s other releases to see a streaming timeline. Its new movies tend to be given a 100-day theatrical window before they come to the streaming service, if not a little longer; Deadpool & Wolverine took 110 days, while Inside Out 2 came to Disney Plus after 103 days.
Snow White will hit cinemas worldwide on March 21, so its 100-day window will end on June 29. That’s a Sunday, but Disney usually drops its new movies on streaming on Wednesdays, so it could arrive on July 2.
How to watch Snow White now

The Snow White remake will premiere in cinemas on March 21, 2025. It’s exclusively available in theaters for the time being, with no premium on-demand option to watch the film at home.
As for whether or not it’s worth watching, it has a 47% Rotten Tomatoes score from nearly 100 reviews. That doesn’t mean it’s bad – but it’s already divisive among critics.
For example, The Independent wrote: “What’s most disheartening about it all is how predictable Disney’s choices have become. With Snow White, they’ve finessed their formula – do the bare minimum to make a film, then simply slap a bunch of cutesy CGI animals all over it and hope no one notices.”
However, more positively, IndieWire wrote: “This is a spirited and sweet spin on classic material that deserves kudos for its balance of necessary updates and affection for the old ways. Mostly, it’s a reminder of what’s actually worth considering and critiquing: the final product. This one is good.”
When will Snow White be released on digital?

Snow White is expected to be released on digital platforms sometime in May 2025.
You won’t need to wait until its Disney Plus release to watch it at home, but if you want to buy or rent it digitally, it’ll likely be available on-demand around two months after its theatrical release.
Be warned, though: it isn’t cheap. When Deadpool & Wolverine dropped on VOD, it cost $29.99 to buy and $24.99 to rent (seriously, just spend the extra five bucks).
