Sadie Sink breaks silence on Spider-Man 4 and Jean Grey rumors

Sadie Sink has reportedly been cast in Spider-Man 4, and if rumors are to be believed, she could be playing the X-Men’s Jean Grey – but don’t expect her to confirm that.

It’s already a big year for Sink. Her new movie Odessa hits Hulu this week, and more notably, Stranger Things Season 5 will bring Netflix’s biggest show to a close this year.

However, she’s already signed onto another huge project: Spider-Man 4, the next standalone adventure for Tom Holland’s wallcrawler in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The question is, who is she playing?

Some people have speculated she’ll play Mary-Jane Watson (even though Zendaya already plays “MJ”), while the most common rumor is that she’s been cast as Jean Grey.

Sadie Sink addresses “really cool” Jean Grey rumors

Speaking to Josh Horowitz for the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Sink admitted she was aware of the rumors about Jean Grey – but she didn’t confirm (nor deny) if it’s true.

“This is news to me… I have nothing to say about this,” she said. “The rumors are really cool though… it’s an awesome rumor.”

Horowitz asked her if she was aware of the character, and she replied: “I know the character… it’s a great character, so that was cool to read.”

As you’d expect, there was very little that Sink could say about Spider-Man 4 and her future in the MCU. The last person to play Jean Grey was Sophie Turner, who last appeared as the character in 2019’s Dark Phoenix.

In terms of the X-Men, Marvel TV chief Brad Winderbaum confirmed that a “feature is in development right now” as well as X-Men ’97 Season 2.

Spider-Man 4 is a bit more complicated. We know Holland is returning as Peter Parker, Zendaya is rumored to appear in a more limited capacity (which is fair, considering her character doesn’t know who Peter is after the events of No Way Home), and it’s set for release between Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars.

There may also be a new love interest; whether that’s Sink’s character or someone else (possibly playing Black Cat) remains to be seen.
