How to apply for Netflix’s Willy Wonka ‘Golden Ticket’ series

Netflix has announced a “once in a lifetime” reality TV series where you get the golden ticket to the chocolate factory. Here’s how you can be the next Charlie Bucket.

If you’ve ever watched the 1971 classic movie or the 2005 remake – or read the original Roald Dahl book, of course – you’ve definitely thought about what would happen if you were one of the lucky golden ticket winners.

Following in the footsteps of Squid Game: The Challenge and Floor is Lava, the streaming service is bringing us a brand-new competition series to finally find out the answer.

We don’t know much yet, and it hopefully doesn’t resemble anything like Glasgow’s Willy Wonka Experience. But we do know how you can apply, so get ready to eat all the chocolate you can handle.

Apply for Netflix’s Willy Wonka ‘Golden Ticket’ series in one simple step

Fans can head straight to TheGoldenTicketCasting.com to fill out an application form. Unlike other global shows, you’ll need to be US-based for this one (as well as over the age of 18, obviously).

It’s a similar casting process to streaming service‘s other game shows, so if you’ve ever filled out an application before, you’ll be right at home.

We’ve got no idea when the new TV show will air or where it will be filmed, with Netflix hinting the news will be revealed at a later date.

“We are thrilled to bring the magic of The Chocolate Factory to life like never before,” said Jeff Gaspin, Vice President of Unscripted at Netflix.

“This one-of-a-kind reality competition blends adventure, strategy, and social dynamics, creating an experience that is as captivating as it is unpredictable. For the first time, a lucky few won’t just have to imagine the experience – they’ll get to step inside the factory and live it.”

It goes without saying we don’t know what any of this means yet, with the above teaser trailer being ever-so-cryptic. However, fans already have some ideas about what could happen.

“Please don’t cast influencers, cast regular people,” one YouTube comment reads, with a second adding: “Will The Unknown be making an appearance?”

“Imagine how crazy this show would be if they brought Johnny Depp to host,” a third added.

For now, the Roald Dahl universe exists on Netflix through Matilda the Musical and The Wonderful World of Henry Sugar. A movie version of The Twits will also arrive on the platform this year.
