NetflixK-pop is taking over the world – and now, it’s taking over Netflix. Yet another stonking K-drama is coming to screens soon, and it stars a very familiar face.
Tis the season for our favorite K-pop stars to make their fictional debut on-screen. We’ve already seen Lisa make her start on The White Lotus Season 3 as staff member Mook, and she’s already proving to be a hit.
Obviously, Netflix wasn’t going to be outdone here. The streaming service is leading the charge on K-drama content, and it’s got some very exciting titles lined up for the rest of the year (ahem, Squid Game Season 3).
Really, the only way to better themselves is to drop a stonking K-pop cameo into the mix… and that’s exactly what it’s doing with a newly announced series.
Blackpink’s Jisoo to star in Netflix K-drama Boyfriend on Demand
Lisa isn’t the only member of Blackpink to be showing off her acting chops! Jisoo is following suit, having been cast in Netflix’s upcoming K-drama Boyfriend on Demand.
NetflixThe rom-com will follow exhausted webtoon producer Mi-rae (Jisoo), who escapes reality through a subscription-based virtual dating simulation program. Soon enough, she meets her dream boyfriend… but is everything really that straightforward?
As Netflix puts it, Mi-rae “longs for a second chance at love in virtual reality. Accustomed to a nonexistent dating life due to her hectic schedule, Mi-rae receives a ‘Monthly Boyfriend’ device by chance. Entering this virtual reality, she encounters unrealistically perfect boyfriends, awakening her dormant desires for romance.”
Jisoo stars opposite Seo In-guk, who’s taking on the role of Park Kyeong-nam. He’s Mi-rae’s colleague and rival webtoon producer. “He’s capable and competent at work, but Mi-rae feels uneasy around him. Despite his indifferent and cold demeanor, he’s a character with surprising secrets, sure to stir emotions in Mi-rae.”
We’ve currently got no confirmed release date or window for the new Netflix series, but that hasn’t stopped Blackpink fans from getting excited.
“Jisoo and Seo In-guk? I’m swooning already,” one posted on X/Twitter, with a second agreeing, “That sounds like such a cute series! Jisoo and Seo In-guk together definitely promises some fun and flirty vibes! Can’t wait to see the chemistry on screen!”
In the meantime, Blackpink fans can see the band on their upcoming 2025 world tour.
