Invincible video game gets “exciting” update from Robert Kirkman

Mark in the Invincible Season 3 finale

Remember when Skybound announced an AAA Invincible game? According to Robert Kirkman, it’s “definitely in the works” and it’s “definitely cool.”

Invincible Season 4 is already in production, Allen the Alien just hit the Fortnite store, and its mobile RPG (Guarding the Globe, which is a lot of fun) is still going strong. However, something even bigger is coming.

Last year, Skybound Entertainment launched a fundraiser for a big-budget Invincible video game, touted as a “highly produced, high-octane blood bath that is anything but indie.”

The campaign closed in April 2024 after raising nearly $680,000 from over 500 investors. It’s remained quietly in development ever since, and even though he couldn’t say much about it, Kirkman is very much hyped.

In an interview with Dexerto before the Season 3 finale, we asked if Kirkman had any updates about the Invincible game.

“I don’t know what I can say. I think… it’s definitely in the works. It’s definitely cool. I don’t even know if I can say how much of it I’ve seen,” he said.

“I’m gonna play it safe and just say, from what I have seen, I am more excited than I’ve been about anything involving Invincible.”

That’s a big claim. After all, Amazon has already green-lit a fourth season of the TV show, and given its consistent viewership and acclaim, there’s no reason to believe he won’t get to go all the way (Season 3 ended on Issue #65, so we’re still not even halfway through the story).

Then again, the prospect of getting to experience Invincible’s bloodiest and best moments in a high-caliber video game is incredibly tantalising. According to Skybound, it will be a “highly coveted” title and a “first-of-its-kind Invincible experience” created by more than 30 developers from Activision Blizzard, EA, and Epic Games, among other studios.

“Invincible is under development with a team of veteran developers with decades-long careers and multiple AAA games to their credit,” the fundraiser explains.

“With cutting-edge competitive gameplay, premium production values, and the most advanced online and technical foundations, Invincible will release under a premium model with multiple DLC expansions and special editions designed to cater to every level of fandom.

“In both competitive and local play modes, the game is designed to contribute new stories to the Invincible multiverse, enabling future releases, expansions, new character arcs and adventures for years to come.”
