Prime VideoInvincible Season 4 is officially in the works, and it may be here sooner rather than later.
Lest we forget the two-and-a-half gap between Invincible’s first two seasons. Rest assured, Kirkman and co. have listened to your feedback, and they have one big priority: coming back every year with new episodes.
After the second season’s split into two parts, all eight episodes of Season 3 were released on Prime Video across six weeks. Unfortunately, the finale has just aired – and between Invincible’s fight against Conquest and that Damien Darkblood reveal, what an ending it was.
Now, the wait is on for Season 4, and we have a pretty good idea of when it could be released.
Is there an Invincible Season 4 release date?
Prime VideoInvincible Season 4 is set for release in early 2026, but it doesn’t have an exact release date right now.
The show’s official X/Twitter account confirmed it will return “sometime in 2026” but didn’t give a specific date.
In an interview with Dexerto, Kirkman said: “I think right now we’re just really focused on keeping the show moving forward, making sure that we’ve got enough episodes done to keep the show coming out at a regular clip.
“It’s a very long and evolved process and I think everybody working on the show is streamlining the processes and getting a little more efficient with everything that’s happening as we learn more of what the show needs.
“We started a long time ago on Season 2 and we’ve just kind of been working continuously since then, and we didn’t have a pandemic that blew everything up. That’s kind of why we’re looking like there’s not going to be a large gap like there was in the past.”
While some fans have feared the quality of the animation could be affected by the demand for annual releases, the show’s team has assured this isn’t the case.
“I’m just so excited. There’s so much to be excited for with the characters and the story, but I’m personally just excited for how much we’ve amped up the quality of the animation to another level,” Marge Dean, head of Skybound Animation, told Screen Rant.
“It’s my intention, and I share it with everybody, that we improve with each season… we know what’s coming in Invincible Season 4, it’s going to blow people’s minds.”
Season 1 premiered in March 2021, Season 2 debuted in November 2023, and Season 3 kicked off in February. Given the second season’s split (and the fact November 2025 is only eight months away), March 2026 may be a sensible estimate for Season 4’s release.
What will happen in Invincible Season 4?
Prime VideoInvincible Season 4 will likely follow the comic from #Issue 66 onwards. That means you should expect to see Allen the Alien and Omni-Man’s adventures in space, the introduction of Dinosaurus and Thragg, and possibly even the Viltrumite War.
Now, that’s not to say the series will follow the comics exactly. After all, Episode 8’s post-credits scene in Hell is the start of a storyline exclusive to the TV show, and that could take up a chunk of Season 4.
“Hopefully at some point, we’ll have time for some distractions and some interludes and we’ll get to do some cool stuff,” Kirkman also told Dexerto (fingers crossed we get a Rex Splode special along the way).
The third season adapted around 15 issues of the comic, and given Season 3 ends on Issue #65, that does suggest we’ll see the Viltrumite War – we could get the whole arc, or there could be a cliffhanger ending.
One thing is clear: I may have predictions based on the comics (for example, I know what happens to Conquest in the comics), but I don’t know exactly what will happen. Simon Racioppa, the series’ co-showrunner, also told us that while they’re “staying very closely to the books, we always try to put in little tweaks and surprises and try to expand moments… whatever those episodes are, we always try to surprise our viewers a little bit.”
We should also see more Battle Beast. “At the end of the last episode, we see that he survived his Viltrumite jailbreak earlier in the season, and he just wants more. More what? I think we know. I think he’s going to get some more,” Racioppa teased.
Season 4 cast and possible new characters
Prime VideoSteven Yeun will reprise his role as Mark Grayson aka Invincible in Season 4, alongside Gillian Jacobs as Atom Eve and JK Simmons as Nolan aka Omni-Man. The cast will also include:

It’s presumed Brown will also reprise his role as Damien Darkblood in Season 4, alongside Bruce Campbell as the demon who debuted in the Season 3 finale’s post-credits scene.
It’s also possible we could hear Tatiana Maslany as Telia, Phil LaMarr as Lucan, and Shantel VanSanten as Anissa again, depending on where the story goes.
Image ComicsHere’s the big one: Season 4 will introduce Thragg, the big bad of Invincible. I’m not going to go into too many details about him, but given the show’s track record of casting big names for villains, a major star could end up playing (fans already have a Walking Dead star in mind for the role).
Kirkman told Variety: “He’s been cast and he’s amazing.”
When we spoke to Kirkman, he couldn’t confirm or deny if Thragg had already been cast. “I can’t tell you that,” he laughed.
“It’s just difficult because we’ve been green-lit for Season 4… whether he’s been cast or not helps people figure out what the heck we’re doing in Season 4. I can’t say that he hasn’t been, I can’t say that he has been,” Kirkman said, and Racioppa joked: “He’s like Schrodinger’s casting… he’s both cast and not cast at the same time.”
Most recently, Matthew Rhys was announced to be joining the cast in Season 4… could he be our Thragg?
