In 2008, Robert Kirkman teamed up with MTV for an adaptation of Invincible – but it’s since disappeared into the realm of lost media, and fans are desperate to find it.
15 years ago, if you asked the average viewer if they liked Invincible, they’d have probably asked you, “What’s that?”
Times have changed. Thanks to Prime Video’s hit series has forged itself an iconic place in superhero pop culture, with fans already desperate for Invincible Season 4 (and many deciding to read the Invincible comics to find out what happens next – trust me, it’s amazing).
However, it isn’t the first time Kirkman has brought his beloved story to the screen. In addition to the live-action movie still in development, he also collaborated with MTV on a short-lived TV series… and nobody can find it.
MTV’s Invincible TV series has vanished from the internet

Unlike Prime Video’s show, MTV’s adaptation was a motion comic intended to be released in 36 parts.
“MTV New Media presents Invincible, based on the comic book created by Robert Kirkman and Cory Walker. Available everywhere July 22nd, this 36-part series brings comics to life as never before,” the website (via the Wayback Machine) reads.
The series used something called the “bomb-xx process” to transform the source material’s original artwork into a “cinematic digital comic experience.”
“It takes a second to get used to watching the stuff move because they animated the actual comics… [but] it’s thrilling to have actual actors saying lines that I wrote years and years ago,” Kirkman said in an earlier interview.

According to Amazon’s listing for the series, 13 episodes were released between July 22, 2017, and April 16, 2009. They were once available to watch on Amazon’s pre-Prime video player, as well as iTunes, Xbox Live, and MTV Mobile.

Here’s the thing: apart from a short trailer (which you can watch on The New York Times website) and a few images on its IMDb page, there’s no other footage from the show online. All of the episodes have been taken down from every streaming platform, and you won’t have any luck via… less ‘official’ channels either. They’re all gone.
While it’s been raised by fans several times over the years, the series has been presented to the Lost Media subreddit (which has over 296,000 “detectives”). So far, people have been able to access old listings, but none of the web pages have a functional video player, and it doesn’t appear that anyone downloaded them when they were first released.
All we have is that small preview on the NYT website, a photo of a poster, and expired iTunes passes sold during San Diego Comic-Con 2008 to promote the series.
Don’t give up hope! Family Guy’s original pilot resurfaced after it was lost for over 30 years, so there’s a chance someone will find Invincible.
In the meantime, check out Kirkman’s new Invincible comic that’s dropping next month, and if you want spoilers, find out what happens to Powerplex, Oliver, and Darkwing II.

We also spoke to Kirkman, who explained why Spawn couldn’t appear in the Invincible War and why there may not be a Rex Splode special anytime soon. He also gave us an update on the Invincible video game.
