Darkwing II teamed up with the Guardians in Invincible Season 3 Episode 7 to fight an evil Mark variant – and if you’re curious about what happens to him in the comics, you’re in the right place.
Darkwing II has been trying to redeem himself in Invincible. After killing people in Midnight City, Mark took him to the GDA – but after a short stint behind bars, Cecil believed he could be put to better use.
He returned in Episode 1 as a newly reformed superhero. “I did terrible things. But that was before, but I’m better now, thanks to Cecil,” he explained, and the Immortal later welcomed him into the Guardians.
Fast-forward to Episode 7, and the world faced its gravest threat yet: the Invincible War, with Angstrom Levy gathering nearly 20 Mark Graysons from across the multiverse and sending them to attack Earth. Spoilers to follow…
Does Darkwing II die in the Invincible comics?

Darkwing II doesn’t die in the Invincible comics – but he doesn’t return for a long time after the events of the Invincible War.
In Issue #60, as the evil Invincibles cause carnage across the world, the Guardians face off against one of the variants. It doesn’t go well: he rips Shapesmith in half, decapitates the Immortal, mows down Dupli-Kate and all of her duplicates, and puts a hell of a beating on Black Samson. Thankfully, they all survive.
“You’re an embarrassment, I can’t believe I killed you all so easily,” he shouts, until Darkwing II attacks him from behind. “We’re not dead yet,” he says, dragging the variant into the Shadow-Verse. Later, Black Samson suspects Darkwing was killed in the Shadow-Verse – trapping the variant forever.

If you jump ahead all the way to Issue #144 (literally the final issue of the comic), Darkwing II returns out of nowhere – well, not nowhere, exactly.
Don’t worry, I’m not going to spoil anything else from the last issue. Here’s a simple version of what happens: a group of heroes are fighting two villains called Vengeance and Wrath, and one of them basically pukes out Darkwing II from the “void.”
There you have it, Darkwing eventually makes it back – as for how much time passes between now and then… you’ll just have to wait and see.
