There’s a simple way to watch Alien: Earth for free

The Xenomorph in Alien: Earth

This week, in Alien: Earth, everyone will hear you scream – and if you’re lucky, you’ll be able to stream the new series for free.

Over 45 years after the original horror movie terrified audiences in cinemas, the franchise is about to make its small-screen debut with Alien: Earth, created by Noah Hawley (Fargo, Legion).

The show follows Wendy (Sydney Chandler) and a “ragtag” group who are assigned to investigate the wreckage of a mysterious space vessel that crash-lands on Earth. There, they “make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet’s greatest threat.”

Yes, that means they face off with a Xenomorph, but there are other disgusting creepy crawlies. It’s the biggest TV event of the week, so if you want to watch it, here’s what you need to know.

How to watch Alien: Earth for free

The Xenomorph in Alien: Earth

Alien: Earth will be available to stream on Hulu in the US and Disney Plus in international territories. If you want to watch it for free, you’ll need Hulu.

If you go to Hulu’s website, you’ll be ushered towards several bundles that include Disney Plus, ESPN, and HBO Max. Feel free to sign up for one of those packages if it takes your fancy, but you’ll only get a seven-day free trial (at most) via those subscriptions – whereas with just Hulu, you can get a 30-day free trial.

Here’s what you need to do: go to this page and scroll to the bottom. You should see a small section that says, “Looking for something else?” Pick Hulu (No Ads), and then you’ll need to sign up for an account if you don’t have one already. Once that’s done, you’ll need to add your billing info.

You won’t be charged for 30 days – but if you forget to cancel your subscription within the free trial period, you’ll automatically be charged for a whole month. Set a reminder on your calendar so you don’t forget – or keep your subscription if you like what Hulu has to offer!

There are eight episodes in the show, and it’s premiering with the first two episodes. So, if you start your 30-day free trial when the series begins, you should be able to watch five episodes for free.

It’s worth noting that this may not be available for much longer. By the end of 2025, Hulu is expected to “fully integrate” into the Disney Plus app, meaning the standalone app and platform will be phased out. Whether or not that means there’ll be price hikes for existing Hulu customers remains to be seen, but considering Disney Plus doesn’t often offer free trials, this could be the time to cash in.

Unfortunately, if you’re in the UK and you want to watch Alien: Earth for free, you’ll need to go through the rigmarole of getting a VPN (if this sounds a bit daunting, check out our VPN guide).
