Jack Reacher is a former soldier who now drifts from town to town trying to stay out of trouble. Unfortunately, due to his size, trouble frequently seems to find him.
The character first appeared in Lee Child’s 1997 novel Killing Floor, before debuting onscreen in the 2012 Jack Reacher movie, where we was played by Tom Cruise. Who definitely isn’t as big as the character described in the books.
Former American Idol contestant Alan Ritchson now plays Reacher in the Prime Video series, starring in two seasons, with a third about to drop. So here’s how the various Jack Reacher’s compare.

Prime VideoLee Child’s books state that Jack Reacher is 6 feet 5 inches tall. Child also describes the character as having blonde hair and weighing roughly 250 pounds.
That’s in marked contrast to Tom Cruise, who is 5 feet 7 inches, and has dark brown here. But in spite of the height disparity, Cruise received widespread acclaim for her performance in two Jack Reacher movies.
But Alan Ritchson is much more in line with what Lee Child envisioned, being 6 feet 2 inches tall, and having blond hair and lots of muscles. Speaking to The Hindustan Times, Child said he felt that the actor “commanded” a room better because of his stature and physique.

Prime VideoJack Reacher is used to being the biggest guy in a room, but all that changes in Season 3, when he faces off with a henchman called Paulie, who is 7 feet and 2 inches.
That makes him a foot taller than Ritchson’s Reacher, which should lend some jeopardy to their inevitable fight.
Paulie is played by Dutch actor and bodybuilder Olivier Richters, who spoke to Empire about the eagerly anticipated sequence, saying: “The effort they put into Reacher versus Paulie is astonishing. We might be a little bit immortal in the fight, because it continues for so long.”
In the same report, Ritchson reveals he trained for five hours a day, and consumed 7,000 calories to maintain his weight for the conflict, while he also promises that the brawl will be “spectacular.”
