Final Destination Bloodlines trailer has 2 sick Easter eggs you might have missed

A man about to get hit by a truck in Final Destination Bloodlines

Get ready gorehounds, the new Final Destination movie is on the way, and the Bloodlines official trailer just snuck in two grisly references to previous movies.

Bloodlines is set to put a new spin on the Final Destination franchise, in which a family is haunted by the deadly repercussions of their grandmother’s premonition many years before.

You know the drill: the family will inevitably get killed off one by one with elaborate accidents. The trailer already gives us an idea of what that will look like with a family BBQ ending with a lawnmower tragedy. Sounds about right!

But if you’re a hardcore fan of the franchise, you might have noticed that two of those deaths look incredibly familiar.

Bloodlines trailer calls back to two Final Destination deaths

Let’s break it down: the first death in the trailer takes place at a BBQ. As a series of all mistakes lead to a gruesome end (aka: a lawnmower goes over a man’s head), we spot the grill itself catch fire after a minor gas leak.

If you’ve seen Final Destination 2, you’ll remember how this could have ended. In the final scene of the 2003 sequel, the character Brian is chilling out by the grill, only to get exploded in the final seconds of the movie.

Much like the other movies in the franchise, it makes for a memorable last-minute kill.

But that’s not all. At the end of the Bloodlines trailer, one character steps out into the road, clearly making it known they think the premonition theory is nonsense. Then, without warning, he gets struck by an oncoming delivery truck. Sound familiar?

Of course it does – it’s a recreation of the most famous Final Destination death of the bunch: Terry’s from the first movie!

Famously, Terry got in the middle of a fight between Alex and Carter, stepping out into the street and proclaiming, “If you want to waste your life beating the sh*t out of Alex every time you see him then you can just drop f**king dead.” Enter: bus, and a pretty shocking death.

Tony Todd makes his final appearance in Bloodlines trailer

The death and destruction isn’t the only thing that’s got people talking in the new trailer. Tony Todd is featured, confirming his appearance in what would be his final on-screen role before his death in 2024.

Todd returns as William Bludworth, the infamous mortician who appeared in Final Destination 1, 2, and 5. (He also voiced the roller-coaster in the third sequel.)

Todd passed away in November 2024, with many fans and co-workers later referring to him as a legend in the horror genre. As well as his work in Final Destination, Todd became known for playing Daniel Robitaille in Candyman.

Final Destination: Bloodlines will be released on May 14, 2025.
