Daredevil: Born Again doesn’t pull its punches in its two-episode premiere, killing off a beloved character and dramatically upping the stakes for Matt Murdock – but two questions remain about Foggy and Adam.
Fans’ worst fears came true in Episode 1: Foggy dies on the streets of Hell’s Kitchen, murdered by Bullseye in cold blood as Karen begs him to stay alive and Matt hears his heartbeat slip into silence.
It is a shocking sequence, but it’s just the start. By the end of Episode 2, Wilson Fisk is the mayor of New York, Matt’s new love interest becomes Fisk and Vanessa’s therapist, and Matt unleashes the Devil to track down a witness and put a beating on two crooked cops.
However, Foggy’s death raises a big question, and the new Daredevil series still hasn’t revealed the specifics of something that happened between Fisk and Vanessa.
Why did Bullseye kill Foggy?

You may have presumed that Benjamin Poindexter, aka Bullseye, killed Foggy in an act of revenge – but that may not be the case.
In the build-up to the moment Bullseye pulls the trigger, we know he broke into Foggy’s client’s apartment on the eve of a major development in his case – could it be possible that someone hired him to take out Foggy? That would make more sense than the alternative… that Bullseye specifically targeted Foggy and Karen.
Why? Because by the end of Daredevil Season 3, Bullseye didn’t know Matt Murdock was Daredevil. In fact, it was Matt who turned him against Fisk, so why would he want to kill his best friends and colleagues after all this time, considering Fisk was the one who broke his back?
Later, Matt takes the stand at Bullseye’s trial and says Foggy was “killed on the whim of a violent and disturbed man… a self-styled assassin with a grudge, out to murder his perceived enemies.”
It feels like there may be more to his story. According to showrunner Dario Scardapane (via Variety), “if something this earth-shattering is going to happen, we have to feel it. This is more than an inciting incident. This is an earthquake. This has ripple effects through the entire story.”
Who is Adam?

In the closing moments of Episode 1, after Fisk’s mayoral victory, he reveals to Vanessa that he “knows about Adam.”
“Do not kill him,” she asks, but he promises he’s not that sort of man anymore.
So, who is he? The easy assumption is that Vanessa had some sort of extramarital affair with another man between the events of Season 3 and Born Again.
Speaking to Business Insider, Ayelet Zurer (who plays Vanessa) teased: “Since he was gone, she took over a little bit and it’s very hard to pull away from that. So some things are not sitting well and they have to deal with that.
“Things changed in their relationship. We come in after a gap of time where they also haven’t been together, I won’t say too much about that. But when they return, they are the very strange lovers that they are.”
In an interview with the LA Times, D’Onofrio said Fisk and Vanessa have an “intense marriage… it’s a really intense, emotional time, and there’s a lot of tears and a lot of emotional reactions to each other.”
“There were times when the cameras were rolling that I felt like I was in therapy with somebody that I cared about a lot, and I had some explaining to do,” he added.
