Why The Punisher fans need to watch Daredevil Born Again Episode 4

Matt suited up in Daredevil: Born Again and a cop's Punisher tattoo

Daredevil: Born Again Episode 4 is hours away from dropping on Disney Plus, and there’s a good chance the series is about to reintroduce Marvel’s best anti-hero.

Have you recovered from the opening episode of Daredevil: Born Again yet? Foggy’s death has huge shadow over the show, but Matt Murdock has plenty of other things to worry about.

More specifically, Wilson Fisk becoming the Mayor of New York, Muse (who’s only been glimpsed so far) hiding somewhere in the city, and Hector Alaya aka White Tiger being murdered after Matt helped him reclaim his innocence.

In Episode 4, Matt is set to investigate who’s responsible for Hector’s death – and that should pave the way for a skull-toting character fans have been begging to see again.

The Punisher may return in Daredevil: Born Again Episode 4

Jon Bernthal as The Punisher in Daredevil: Born Again

Frank Castle, aka The Punisher, is widely expected to appear in Daredevil: Born Again.

There’s a few reasons for this. Firstly, a couple of outlets online have already reported that Jon Bernthal will reprise his role in the fourth episode (though this strictly isn’t confirmed).

Secondly, Episode 3 ended with someone in a Punisher vest murdering Hector. Now, there’s no way The Punisher killed White Tiger, so I’m expecting we’ll see Matt paying Frank a visit to ask if he knows anything about what happened.

Thirdly – and this bit is important – we know from leaked behind-the-scenes photos that Matt will encounter Frank at least twice in the first season. He appeared in the trailers (even providing narration for one of them) with a beard and looking a bit haggard, but he’s suited up and covered in blood in other photos.

Episode 4 seems like the best place for Frank’s monologue from the trailer. “You’re angry, aren’t ya? I can see it in you it’s all over you,” he tells Matt.

“You hate yourself. It’s eating you up because you haven’t done a damn thing about it! I don’t think you came here for my help. I think you want my permission, Red. You want get your hands on somebody, you wanna hurt them.

“Maybe you’re a little bit scared about what that means, but it’s gonna keep eating, and eating, and eating, because you know they’re breathing the same air you’re breathing.”
