Thank the Hallmark Gods! When Calls the Heart Season 13 was officially renewed right after the Season 12 finale. Now, our top burning questions can be answered.
Things took a turn for the worse at the end of Season 12, with Little Jack needing insulin treatments after his diabetes diagnosis. Just as he seemed to be picking up, a batch that wasn’t refrigerated properly sent him back downhill. This meant Elizabeth and Nathan left Hope Valley to live in Cape Fullerton, taking Jack and Allie with them.
I know what you’re thinking – how can When Calls the Heart even be the binge-worthy TV show it’s always been if our leads have left where it’s set? But this is just one of our problems.
If you’ve been paying attention, When Calls the Heart Season 13 needs to answer multiple burning questions… but will we see them?
Will Elizabeth come back to Hope Valley in When Calls the Heart Season 13?

It goes without saying that the biggest question in When Calls the Heart Season 13 is whether Elizabeth and Little Jack ever return to Hope Valley. It’s likely not something that’s going to be answered immediately – if at all – so expect a slow-burn resolution on this one.
At the end of Episode 12, Elizabeth tries talking to Jack about a hike Nathan mentioned earlier but gets no response. He’s out cold, leaving Elizabeth screaming for help. Faith tells her the lab has been getting calls from patients experiencing new symptoms, thinking the latest supply wasn’t properly refrigerated in transit.
Elizabeth knows where to go for more, though – Cape Fullerton. She’d previously received a letter from her mom convincing Jack to be moved closer to their state-of-the-art hospital facilities. Faith advises Elizabeth might be better off moving closer to the hospital for the immediate future. She packs Jack up and heads on her way, with Nathan and Allie tracking them down just before they get too far.

We’re left with a startling statement. “I know everything seems uncertain tonight, but no matter what, somehow we will return to Hope Valley,” Elizabeth’s final voiceover tells us.
Given what we know, it’s unlikely we’re going to see the foursome settled back in Hope Valley like nothing has happened at the start Season 13. Little Jack has been on the brink of death in these last two episodes, reminding us his journey back to good health is a lifelong one. He’s going to need continous access to the best insulin treatment possible, and that just isn’t in Hope Valley.
If When Calls the Heart Season 13 picks up in 1922-1923, it’s most likely Nathan and Elizabeth will still be settled in Cape Fullerton when the season starts. But can Hope Valley step up in its hour of need to get their leading couple back?
Will Nathan pop the question?

Just before Little Jack fell ill again, it seemed as though Nathan was going to ask Elizabeth to marry him. The pair were set on having more fun after Jack’s insulin started to kick in, with Nathan later telling Elizabeth she’s all he thinks about. “Where you go, I go,” he tells her in a romantic moment, which is repeated when she leaves for Cape Fullerton at the end of the episode.
Watching Nathan and Elizabeth get engaged was the number one thing fans wanted most from Season 12, but life got in the way. However, this should tell us it’s being set up for Season 13, given how Elizabeth’s previous relationships have panned out.
As we know, Seasons 1-5 were all about Elizabeth and Jack until his unfortunate death, with Elizabeth and Lucas being official from Seasons 8-10. Nathan’s been with her since Season 11, and breaking the two-season mark means they’re clearly a serious pairing.
Given that most of When Calls the Heart’s other major storylines have now wrapped up, you’d think a white wedding would soon be on the cards. Season 13 is currently a blank slate, so maybe we’ll get what we want if we wish hard enough.
Are Lucas and Edie actually a couple?

The other biggest romantic dilemma is between Edie and Lucas. The Season 12 finale was their closest connection yet, simultaneously working together as lawyer and client while developing a closer personal relationship.
Frustratingly, that hasn’t even resulted in a smooch yet. After successfully locating the Garrison gold Edie’s uncle Ernie had hidden some years before, the two shared a dance during the school’s graduation party. Lucas has made his romantic feelings towards Edie pretty clear now, but she feels hesitant to accept.
At the moment, Edie’s trying to keep a level of professionalism between the two. Given he’s no longer governor and she no longer works for the Cattlemen’s Association, this doesn’t really need to be in place, but Edie likely feels more comfortable with it considering how their relationship started.
The pair clearly have a lot of natural chemistry, and the feel is mutual (even if Edie won’t fully admit it yet). Now Edie is staying in town indefinitely, don’t be surprised to see them officially become a couple in Season 13.
Can Georgie McGill return?

Little House on the Prairie alum Melissa Gilbert’s two-episode cameo was one of the highlights of Season 12. We haven’t seen Inspector Georgie McGill since Episode 10 when she shared a shocking kiss with Bill before leaving for her hometown.
Georgie tries to get Bill to go with her, but he refuses. She says the fact Bill treats women with such respect is “one of the reasons I… felt the way I did. The way I do.” As Georgie says there’s a strong chance she’ll be back in town because the case is open, Bill kisses her. She wishes him goodnight, leaving in a taxi. Rosemary sees the whole thing, saying it explains how he’s been behaving.
Clearly, there’s love between these could, but could it ever manifest into a real relationship? For that to happen, Gilbert would need to return as a series regular, and potential even relocate to Hope Valley. While nothing is confirmed, she’s completely open to it.
Speaking to The Edify Show, she explained: “That would be delightful, I will keep my fingers crossed. We’ve had this conversation in my family and I said ‘Guys, are we all down if this happens and I go back?’ and everybody said ‘Go go go!’”
If it’s going to happen, it’ll be in Season 13. Leaving it any longer would mean the momentum started in Season 12 would be lost, so keep your eyes peeled.
Do Allie and Oliver fall in love?

Love isn’t just for the adults! Allie and Oliver have developed a beautiful companionship over the course of Season 12, with Nathan and Elizabeth only just figuring out their romantic attraction is definitely mutual.
For the first half of the series, Oliver was pining over Allie while Allie had eyes for Wyatt. A brutal rejection followed, leaving Allie open to seeing what could be there with Oliver. Taking on McGinty together over the cattle crossing definitely helped, having to spend a great deal of time together to find any solutions.
In Episode 12, Elizabeth tells Nathan Oliver is the only student who regressed in their final exam, which matches up to his last mountie report. Nathan thinks it’s deliberate, destroying his career to stay in Hope Valley and be with Allie. His wishes come true later on, as Nathan prompts Oliver to share what’s wrong so other people can help.
He tells Oliver he needs a deputy for at least another year, but Oliver has to take the final test again to be eligible. He’s made up, with Elizabeth and Nathan figuring out Allie definitely has feelings for Oliver too.
So now Oliver is definitely in town for another year, romance can bloom. We’ve got the small hiccup of Allie now being in Cape Fullerton for Little Jack, but has distance ever stopped two people from finding true love? I don’t think so.
