ParamountYellowstone is the gift that keeps giving, but there’s only one way to watch the best spinoff on Netflix.
Since launching on the Paramount Network in 2018, Yellowstone has become one of the most successful TV shows in the world, with Taylor Sheridan‘s neo-western getting bigger with each season.
The show concluded in December of 2024, but that wasn’t the end of the franchise, as Paramount has spun the series off into prequels examining the history and chequered past of the Dutton family.
One such series – and the best Yellowstone spinoff – is about to drop on Netflix, but if you don’t live in certain countries, you’ll have trouble accessing it.
1883 is heading to Netflix UK
Paramount1883 launched on Paramount+ in 2021 and ran for one season. Now those 10 episodes are dropping on Netflix on March 12, 2025, but only in select territories like the UK, Germany, Canada, and Brazil. Meaning you’ll need a VPN to access it from elsewhere.
Once you have one, just change your location to the right country, log into Netflix, and start streaming.
Set in that titular year, 1883 follows the Dutton family as they embark an a journey through the American west and across the Great Plains, with the official synopsis describing the show as “a stark retelling of Western expansion, and an intense study of one family fleeing poverty to seek a better future in America’s promised land — Montana.”
What they establish eventually becomes the Yellowstone Ranch that viewers know and love today, and creator Taylor Sheridan considers it a ’10-hour movie with an ending.” One that achieved an 89% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
The show stars Sam Elliott, Tim McGraw, Faith Gill, Eric Nelson, Isabel May, Marc Rissmann, LaMonica Garrett, Audie Rick, and James Landry Herbert.
Chronologically, it’s the first of multiple shows charting the progress of the Dutton family, with 1923 following that story, and premiering on Paramount+ in 2022.
