A new animated Avatar: The Last Airbender series following the events of The Legend of Korra has been confirmed for Nickelodeon. Here’s what we know about Avatar: Seven Havens.
The franchise currently evolving around Nickelodeon’s popular animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender is picking up steam. The property spawned a number of original video games, collaborations with established ones like Overwatch 2, a potential Magic: The Gathering crossover, and a live-action adaptation on Netflix (we don’t talk about that other one).
Adding to that long list of entries, an animated feature film known as Aang: The Last Airbender is currently in the works. This won’t be the last we see of the franchise however as a new entry has just been unveiled.
A long-rumored follow-up to Avatar: The Legend of Korra is in the early stages of development and information on the series emerging. Read on to find out everything we know about Avatar: Seven Havens.

Cast & crew
Avatar: Seven Havens is currently slated for a 26-episode run over two seasons which will be referred to as Book 1 and Book 2 in the usual Avatar style. These episodes are planned to last for roughly half an hour similar to previous animated projects in the franchise.
Variety has confirmed that series creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko will return to lead the project. Ethan Spaulding who directed 12 episodes of the original series is also returning in an executive producer role alongside Sehaj Sethi who worked on the CW series Two Sentence Horror Stories.
“When we created the original series, we never imagined we’d still be expanding the world decades later,” said DiMartino and Konietzko in a press release. “This new incarnation of the Avatarverse is full of fantasy, mystery, and a whole new cast of amazing characters. Get ready to take another epic and emotional adventure!”
Plot details
According to the official logline for Avatar: Seven Havens, the story takes place in “a world shattered by a devastating cataclysm. A young Earthbender discovers she’s the new Avatar after Korra – but in this dangerous era, that title marks her as humanity’s destroyer, not its savior. Hunted by both human and spirit enemies, she and her long-lost twin must uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilization’s last strongholds collapse.”
The post-apocalyptic setting is a new take on the Avatar universe and the time period it’s based in has been left ambiguous. However, this rundown does partially confirm rumors of a follow-up to Avatar: The Legend of Korra centered around twin Avatars that have been swirling online for years now. Whether or not both twins will be able to Bend all four elements remains to be revealed.

Is there a release date?
No. At present, there isn’t even a tentative release window outlined for Avatar: Seven Havens. Given that the official announcement is still so fresh, it’s likely that the series is still in the infancy of its production stages.
We do know that the feature-length animated film Aang: The Last Airbender is slated for release sometime in 2026. Avatar: Seven Havens will likely launch at some point after that.
