Cassian is back to fight the Empire once again, so we’re breaking down exactly when new Andor Season 2 episodes drop on Disney Plus.
Rogue One was the second Star Wars movie launched under the Disney umbrella, and it became a surprise hit – and not just because of that Darth Vader scene. It was dark, mature, and explored the cost of war in a way no other Star Wars story had.
Cassian Andor, the troubled Rebel hero, became a fan favorite, and five years later, he got his own show. A grounded, politically charged thriller, it showed the oppressive bureaucracy of the Empire and the toll of fighting against it (“I burn my life, to make a sunrise that I know I’ll never see” goes hard).
The second season has arrived to glowing reviews, showing how four more years of Empire rule lead to the events of Rogue One, and then A New Hope. Here’s the full release schedule of when Andor Season 2 episodes air.

How many episodes are there?
Andor Season 2 has 12 episodes. Like the first season, it comprises four mini-arcs, each covering a different part of Cassian’s journey to become the rebel we know from Rogue One.
Picking up a year on from Season 1, the second chapter takes place over four years, with each three-episode batch covering one year. This is going to take us right up to Rogue One, with the final batch taking Cassian to the Ring of Kafrene, where we meet him in the movie.

While Tony Gilroy oversees the season as a whole, each batch of episodes will have a different writer and director. Tony Gilroy wrote Episodes 1-3, Beau Willimon penned Episodes 4-6, Dan Gilroy did the same for Episodes 7-9, and Tom Bissell wrote the last three.
Ariel Kleiman directed the first six episodes of Season 2, Janus Metz did 7-9, and Alonso Ruizpalacios wraps up the season.

Andor release schedule
- Episodes 1-3: April 22
- Episodes 4-6: April 29
- Episodes 7-9: May 6
- Episodes 10-12: May 13
While the first season dropped the first three episodes at once and then released the rest weekly, Season 2 releases in batches of three. While there are twelve episodes, the season will be over in just four weeks.
What is Andor Season 2 about?
Andor Season 2 bridges the gap between the end of Season 1 and Rogue One. Cassian is now a fully committed member of the Rebel Alliance, and the second season will continue to explore the cost of rebellion and what brings him to go on the deadly Rogue One mission.
Stars from the first season, such as Stellan Skarsgård (Luthen), Genevieve O’Reilly (Mon Mothma), Denise Gough (Dedra Meero), and Kyle Soller (Syril) return, as well as Rogue One’s Ben Mendelsohn (Krennic) and Alan Tudyk (K-2SO).

How many seasons of Andor will there be?
There will only be two seasons of Andor, so this is the final season. While it was originally set to run for five seasons, showrunner Tony Gilroy realized it wasn’t feasible and instead opted for Season 2 to cover four years.
“We were halfway through shooting Season 1, coming through Covid, and the monumental size of the show, the effort, and everything else was just dawning on us,” Gilroy said when speaking to SFX. “We realized that I didn’t have enough calories to do it, and Diego’s face couldn’t take the timing, because it just takes too long to make it. We were saved by Disney saying, ‘Okay, if you guys can figure out a way to do it, we’re into it.'”
