After nearly three years, one of the best shows Netflix has ever produced will make its long-awaited return in September 2025. Let’s just say, are you ready to play?
Netflix has been on a roll this year. It started with Wallace and Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl, before dropping films like Havoc, Nonnas, and KPop Demon Hunters, the latter of which has become one of its most-watched movies ever.
Its TV output has been similarly strong, whether it’s the Emmy-nominated Adolescence, Dept Q., or Squid Game Season 3, the final chapter of Netflix’s record-breaking series (until David Fincher’s American follow-up, that is).
Next month, Netflix is set to continue its winning streak with the third season of an underappreciated banger.
Alice in Borderland Season 3 drops on Netflix in September
Alice in Borderland Season 3 premieres on Netflix on September 25, 2025.
It’s been a long time coming, but it’s not like the series always had a fast turnaround; the first season arrived in December 2020, and even though it was renewed for another season two weeks later, it still didn’t come out until December 2022. This time, it’s been a slightly longer gap – but it’s going to be worth the wait.
As Netflix has teased, “the uncharted journey led by the mysterious Joker card is about to unfold.”
“After Usagi is abducted and left unconscious by a mysterious scholar obsessed with the afterlife, Arisu returns to the perilous Borderland to save her,” the official synopsis reads.
“Teaming up with new players, they must face the yet-unseen Joker stage in a desperate bid to find a way back to their original world.”

If you’re unfamiliar with the show and you’re considering binge-watching it to catch up, it’s an adaptation of Haro Aso’s acclaimed manga. In the beginning, it follows Arisu (Kento Yamazaki) and Usagi (Tao Tsuchiya) in a desolate, parallel version of Tokyo, where they’re forced to compete in dangerous games to survive.
That may sound a little Squid Gamey, but beyond the games, Alice in Borderland is a much different show. It’s a full-on dystopian sci-fi thriller with broad influences, like Battle Royale and The Maze Runner.
Even though its viewership has been consistently high, it’s flown under the radar compared to Netflix’s bigger hits. At the time of writing, you have 41 days to watch the first two seasons of Alice in Borderland. Tick tock.
