Things got pretty rough-going in the Severance Season 2 finale, and one of the most shocking scenes of the bunch actually caused Adam Scott a concussion in real life.
The Season 2 finale was a series of firsts for the Apple TV+ show. For one, they finally gave us some answers for what Lumon is up to and what they were using Gemma for. But it also saw Outie and Innie Mark interacting with each other, and even featured a rare moment of violence.
Severance isn’t known for being a particularly bloody show, but the showdown between Mark, Drummond, and Lorne was truly brutal, and ended with the unceremonious shooting of Drummond in the elevator.
But first, there was a big fight scene. And if you noticed Mark gets shaken up pretty hard, you may not be surprised to hear Adam Scott took a beating in real life.
Adam Scott hit his head for real in Severance Season 2 Episode 10
Discussing the scene on the official Severance podcast, Scott revealed that during the fight scene, he was supposed to block his head when Drummond (Ólafur Darri Ólafsson) throws him against the wall.
It would have cushioned his head, selling the scene without actually resorting to injury. But as Scott described it, things didn’t go according to plan.

“That was 100% my fault,” he explained. “We’re talking about when Darri grabs me and slams me up against the wall, and we had worked it out over and over again and practiced it over and over again.
“Part of my responsibility was while he’s swinging me, for one of my arms to come up and block my body so I could get slammed into the wall at full speed, but it would guard my head and the rest of my body from the wall.

“My arm just got caught behind me or something and I didn’t get it up in time, so I hit it with my head and I believe that’s the shot used in the show, right?”
When Ben Stiller confirmed, “It definitely is,” Scott added, “Totally worth being concussed.”
