1923 Season 2: Is Alexandra pregnant?

Is Alex pregnant in 1923? Julia Schlaepfer as Alex

1923 Season 2 has finally arrived, and it’s time to find out if the fan theories about Alex getting pregnant are true. (Warning: spoilers ahead!)

The first episode of 1923 Season 2, “The Killing Season,” is here, and it’s already setting the bar for dangerous times ahead. Spencer makes a small fortune by fighting on a ship, Elizabeth has a close encounter with a mountain lion, and Donald Whitfield is preparing his plans for the ranch takeover.

However, no character is more at risk than Alexandra. The first season ended with her and Spencer getting separated and promising to meet each other in Montana. But “The Killing Season” opens with Alex back in England, and there’s a very long road ahead.

What’s more, her journey is all the more urgent with the arrival of some shocking news.

Is Alex pregnant in 1923?

Yes, Alexandra is pregnant! She reveals the news to her friend Jennifer in 1923 Season 2 Episode 1, when she tells her she needs to get to Montana before her pregnancy starts to show.

She and Spencer are married, but since he got arrested and she returned to her home country, their marriage has no standing. As such, she’s in trouble, effectively living life as an unmarried and ruined woman.

Her family are refusing to give her money to travel to America, and their reputation has been tainted by her antics.

As she tells Jennifer (while holding her stomach), she’s “running out of time.”

So, it’s essential that she finds her way back to Montana before she gets too pregnant to travel, as she wants Spencer to meet his child.

She then asks for Jennifer’s help. Giving her a collection of expensive jewellery, she asks her best friend to go and sell them for cash so she can use the money to buy a ticket for a ship to America.

It takes some pleading, but Jennifer eventually agrees. By the end of the first episode, Alex is getting on the ship, readying for “another adventure.”

Alex’s journey is a troubled one, and she almost gets denied entry to America in Episode 3 when the doctors discover she’s pregnant. She makes it through, however, but encounters another problem in Episode 4 when she’s attacked in the bathroom at Grand Central Station.

The attacker kicks her in the stomach, and when she later makes it to her train carriage, she tells a questioning passenger that she was robbed of “everything” while holding her stomach. Some fans think this may lead to her losing the baby, but only time will tell.

Alex’s pregnancy is an important piece of 1923 lore

Alex’s pregnancy brings us one step closer to one of the most popular Yellowstone fan theories: that she and Spencer are the grandparents of John Dutton III (Kevin Costner).

This is one piece of the Dutton family tree that hasn’t been confirmed yet. John Dutton’s grandparents could either be Alex and Spencer or Elizabeth and Jack.

Elizabeth became pregnant in Season 1, but miscarried shortly afterwards. This put the lineage into question once again, with many fans thinking that Alex might be pregnant after she showed signs of morning sickness in the later episodes.

Finally, this has been confirmed, and is all the more reason to wish for safe passing for Alex on her voyage to Montana.

However, things have become even more complicated after Season 2 Episode 4, because Liz is now pregnant again! It’s joyous news for the Duttons, but once again puts into question the oh-so important piece of family lineage.

It looks like we’ll just have to wait and see if Taylor Sheridan spills the beans on John Dutton’s grandparents by the Season 2 finale.
