Gabby Petito’s dad responds to lookalike’s viral TikTok post

Gabby Petito’s lookalike on TikTok received an emotional message from her dad, Joe Petitio.

In 2021, Gabby Petito was found dead in Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming. The Netflix docu-series about her murder, American Murder: Gabby Petito, describes her journey before her death, where she aspired to become a YouTuber.

As she traveled through the United States in a van with her boyfriend Brian Laundrie, Petito’s and Laundrie’s relationship began to spiral. In the weeks leading up to her death, Laundrie was reported to the police for slapping Petito. 

When the YouTuber’s family stopped receiving texts and calls from her, an investigation into her disappearance began. Her boyfriend ultimately admitted to murdering Petito before he took his own life.

While her death is years old, her memory is still fresh in her family’s minds. Social media users have also become invested in Petito’s story, sharing their theories and thoughts.

One TikToker, though, has gone viral for looking strikingly similar to Petito. Raegan, known to her 11K followers as ‘haeganrumphrey,’ said it was an “honor” for people to see Petito’s “beautiful soul” in her.

On February 23, Raegan posted a tribute to Petito, thanking the internet for their kind words about how much she looks like the YouTuber.

Raegan’s post gained millions of views, but none more important than the one from Petito’s dad Joe Petito, who commented on the TikToker’s photo.

“Make the most of every day,” Joe wrote with several heart emojis.

Raegan responded: “This is so true, I’m more than sorry for your loss and could never imagine what you’re going through, but I’m sure you’re making Gabby proud.”

Viewers said they instantly began to cry from the interaction between Petito’s dad and his daughter’s lookalike. “Gabby’s dad commenting broke me,” was just one of many emotional responses from viewers.

As more information about Petito’s death is revealed, her supporters have rallied around her innocence in her abusive relationship with Laundrie. Some have even targeted Laundrie’s parents’ home by throwing trash on their lawn.
