Design and Joy-Cons

The Switch 2 Joycons are held on with magnets that can clip into place, replacing the original console’s sliding rail system. The plastic surrounding the joystick also appears to be sturdier, which might be a response to the Joy-Con drift issue.

Related

Nintendo made the left and right joy sticks bigger than the previous generation, making them more comfortable for adults. The leaked Joy-Con mice sensors have been confirmed as well, allowing users to use both the right and left controls as a mouse to control games.

There’s a new Switch 2 Pro controller as well, which at first glance looks just like the original controller. However, Nintendo has added the new C button and programmable back buttons.

Nintendo Switch 2 gets game chat

The Nintendo Switch 2 finally has built-in game chat with game-screen sharing. You don’t need a separate headset, either, as the Switch 2 features a microphone at the top of the device.

Nintendo is launching a matching camera for the Switch 2 as well, allowing you to use video chat with friends and even in games like Mario Party. Game Chat is accessible through the new C button on the right Joycon.

Nintendo Switch Online support & GameCube games

Nintendo Switch Online will be compatible with the Switch 2, but those with the expansion pack will get access to GameCube games on the new console.

A new wireless GameCube controller will launch on the same day as the Switch 2.
