Every iPhone & iPad game with controller support

controller support on ios

A lot of iOS games come with controller support, but it can be hard to know which ones. We’ve listed all the titles for iPhone and iPad that come with native support for your controllers.

Your iPad and iPhone have some of the most powerful hardware for gaming, but a trusty controller is the key to unlocking the true potential of these gadgets.

While the App Store’s layout differs from Android’s Play Store, it doesn’t mention the controller compatibility with games. Moreover, Android offers flexibility when mapping third-party controllers and devices.

Apple may play by its own rules, but your controller doesn’t have to be confined. Services like Steam Link, Nvidia GeForce Now, and Game Pass (browser access) let you stream your game library directly to your phone, controller in hand.

This is why we’ve curated this long list of games in the App Store with controller support. But worry not; every game on this list is marked for controller compatibility, so you can easily hop between titles and genres.

What are the best controllers for iPhone and iPad?

If you’re looking for the best mobile controller, we recommend the Scuf Nomad for iPhone, and the Razer Kishi Ultra for iPad.

If you want some non-mobile-focused controllers to consider, we also have some for the Switch, PC, and even a few reviews covering them. We’d recommend things like the latest Victrix Pro, which is a PS5 controller built with more customizable options. That, and the ever-so-lovely 8BitDo Ultimate Controller.

How to check if an iPhone or iPad game has controller support

If an iPhone or iPad game has controller support, it will be referenced in the toolbar, which also features the game’s review ranking, recommended age, and other details. You can find this between the ‘Developer; and ‘Language’ sections.

If you’re having trouble finding the toolbar altogether, it’s located just above any videos and screenshots of the game you’re checking out.  If controller support is unavailable, it will be missing entirely from this section.

You can also find more details about the controller support, by scrolling down to the ‘supports’ section. Here, under ‘game controllers’ developers may list more details about the type of supported controllers, such as PlayStation, Xbox, or MFi controllers that are compatible with the game.
