Regardless of what type of game you’re playing, thanks to the in-game chat feature on the platform, you can easily communicate as you play, but there are plenty of slang terms to get your head around, including AFK.
‘AFK’ is something to use when taking a break
AFK means ‘Away From Keyboard’ and it’s an abbreviation typically used for PC users, both in video games and in community servers like Discord. It’s exactly the same in Roblox.
Simply put, if a player is in the middle of a game or a conversation but needs to step away from their computer for a while, sending an ‘AFK’ message is the most efficient way to communicate this.
It’s important to relay an AFK message to your group if you expect to be away for a significant amount of time. This is particularly essential if you’re in the middle of a co-op experience as your team will need to be aware that you won’t be receiving communications or responding to messages until you return.
How to go AFK in Roblox
Dexerto- Going AFK in any Roblox game is less of a feature, because all you need is to navigate to the chat window, type ‘AFK’, and hit enter on your keyboard to send the message.
- The chat window should appear at the bottom left corner of the screen, though you may have to open it via the envelope icon at the top of the screen that we’ve highlighted in the image above.
- Once that’s done, you’re good to step away from the computer.
Time limit
You can be away from keyboard for up to 20 minutes max in Roblox. If you’re inactive for any longer than this, you’ll be kicked from whatever game you’re playing.
How to bypass the time limit on PC & Mac
You can use an autoclicker to bypass the AFK time limit on PC & Mac via the method below:
- Download and install the Autoclicker via this website.
- Load into the Roblox game of your choice
- Keep your Roblox window out of full-screen mode, and press the ‘ESC’ key on your keyboard to get back to your main desktop.
- Either open the Applications folder via the searchbar on your PC or open your Finder on Mac, and navigate to Applications from there.
- From here scroll down until you find the MouseClicker app and click on it.
- The autoclicker window will appear on your screen. When you’re ready to go AFK, hit the Start button, or the Q (PC) or CMD+Option+S (Mac) on your keyboard.
- Navigate back to Roblox and the auto clicker will be working, allowing you to go away from keyboard for as long as you like without being kicked.
Pros & cons for going AFK
The biggest negative to being AFK is being kicked from games, however, there are some benefits to the system as well.
For example, if you’re playing Anime Dimensions, you can watch anime episodes in its AFK Gym, and after being AFK in the room for 5 minutes you’ll receive free gold and gems.
RPG Simulator has a similar system where players can access an AFK World via the game’s World Portal. This rewards those who wait with different types of currency like Raid Coins and Challenge Coins every 10 minutes. Just keep in mind you’ll need to reach at least Level 25 in the sim before you can access the world.
