Choosing between Eevee’s eight charming evolutions isn’t easy, as they each bring something unique to the table. To make things simple, we’ve ranked every Eeveelution in Pokemon Go from best to worst.
Eevee continues to capture the hearts of Pokemon fans worldwide, its popularity rivaling even that of Pikachu in terms of adorableness, and its evolutions have fans picking favorites.
Whether it’s the graceful Sylveon, fiery Flareon, or one of the other iconic forms, deciding on one Eevee evolution isn’t just about looks, as each one brings its own battle strengths.
In Pokemon Go, some Eeveelution shine while others fall flat. So, to help you spend your Rare Candy wisely, we’ve ranked them all from best to worst.
Best Eevee evolution in Pokemon Go
Currently, the best Eevee evolution in Pokemon Go is Umbreon. Even though – according to pvpoke – it now ranks #207 in the Great League and #196 in the Ultra League, it used to be a mighty PvP champion with great Defense stats.
Of course, the eight Eevee evolutions can be ranked according to different criteria: type, design, strength, speed, moveset, and more. However, for this particular ranking, we are evaluating their overall performance in Pokemon Go across all Battle League levels.
All Eeveelutions ranked from best to worst
1. Umbreon

- Type: Dark
- Weaknesses: Bug, Fairy, and Fighting
- Resistances: Psychic, Dark, and Ghost
- Best moveset: Snarl + Foul Play & Last Resort
Umbreon has long been considered the best Eevee evolution in Pokemon Go, and that’s still the case thanks to its great bulk and powerful moves that make it an outstanding Dark type across the game.
Of all the Eeveelutions, this tanky Pokemon has the best PvP potential in both the Great League and the Ultra League, especially with the new Level 50 cap, which allows it to reach a max CP of 2416 with some deadly stats.
GO BATTLE LEAGUE | PvP RANKING |
---|---|
Great League | #207 |
Ultra League | #196 |
Master League | #367 |
2. Sylveon

- Type: Fairy
- Weaknesses: Poison and Steel
- Resistances: Bug, Dark, Fighting, and Dragon
- Best moveset: Charm + Psyshock & Moonblast
While it loses out to Umbreon in the Great League and Ultra League, Sylveon gets to shine in the Master League, which is dominated by Dragon-types that this Fairy-type Eeveelution will just love to obliterate. This simply makes Sylveon the best Eevee evolution to choose to tackle the Master League.
If you’ve got access to a strong Togekiss or Gardevoir, those will always be better Fairy-type choices, but Sylveon fulfills the role of being a cheaper substitute that can perform very well in the right situation.
GO BATTLE LEAGUE | PvP RANKING |
---|---|
Great League | #386 |
Ultra League | #215 |
Master League | #155 |
3. Vaporeon

- Type: Water
- Weaknesses: Electric and Grass
- Resistances: Fire, Ice, Steel, and Water
- Best moveset: Water Gun + Aqua Tail & Liquidation
Vaporeon used to be a champion in Pokemon Go, but it’s since been outclassed. While it will never be as strong as a leveled-up Kyogre or Gyarados, it’s still an excellent Water-type for your team if you don’t have access to those.
With a decent bulk and a high max CP, this Eevee evolution actually performs pretty well in PvE as one of the strongest (and cheapest) Water types, especially if you can’t afford the more expensive or rare standouts.
GO BATTLE LEAGUE | PvP RANKING |
---|---|
Great League | #375 |
Ultra League | #299 |
Master League | #132 |
4. Glaceon

- Type: Ice
- Weaknesses: Fighting, Fire, Rock, and Steel
- Resistances: Ice
- Best moveset: Ice Shard + Avalanche & Icy Wind
Ice-types are rare in Pokemon Go, so while Glaceon might not be the best, it’s worth getting one just to make sure you have a semi-decent Ice-type under your belt. Although if you’ve got a Mamoswine, focus on that instead.
Because Ice-types are good at taking Dragons down, you’ll probably find Glaceon most useful for defeating the powerful Dragon-types that often defend Gyms, but it also has some potential in the Master League.
GO BATTLE LEAGUE | PvP RANKING |
---|---|
Great League | #857 |
Ultra League | #588 |
Master League | #255 |
5. Espeon

- Type: Psychic
- Weaknesses: Bug, Dark, and Ghost
- Resistances: Fighting and Psychic
- Best moveset: Confusion + Psychic Fangs & Shadow Ball
Despite having the highest Attack stat of all Eeveelutions, Espeon doesn’t really get a chance to show it off. When it comes to PvP in the Go Battle League, it’s pretty much useless across all three major Leagues, but it has high DPS.
Where Espeon does show promise, though, is in PvE, where it can be a great Fighting and Poison-type counter if you’re lacking in other, more powerful Psychic-type choices like Mewtwo or Metagross.
GO BATTLE LEAGUE | PvP RANKING |
---|---|
Great League | #864 |
Ultra League | #623 |
Master League | #294 |
6. Leafeon

- Type: Grass
- Weaknesses: Bug, Fire, Flying, Ice, and Poison
- Resistances: Electric, Grass, Ground, and Water
- Best moveset: Quick Attack + Leaf Blade & Last Resort
As with most Eeveelutions, there are better Grass options than Leafeon available, like Tangrowth and Roserade. It’s still a very good non-Legendary Grass type, though, and has solid Attack and Defense stats.
Leafeon also shows improvement in the Master League, where it can take down any Pokemon with a weakness towards it. However, it won’t last long against most other opponents, so definitely don’t rely on it.
GO BATTLE LEAGUE | PvP RANKING |
---|---|
Great League | #506 |
Ultra League | #512 |
Master League | #273 |
7. Jolteon

- Type: Electric
- Weaknesses: Ground
- Resistances: Electric, Flying, and Steel
- Best moveset: Volt Switch + Discharge & Last Resort
Jolteon used to be a good, quick Electric-type choice, but it has fallen behind stronger options such as Electivire, Magnezone, and Xurkitree.
Unfortunately, Jolteon doesn’t pack enough power or niche to really make any waves across either the PvP or PvE meta in Pokemon Go.
If you’re adamant about Jolteon, though, it’s best to save it for PvE. Here, it can be a budget Electric-type Pokemon if you don’t have access to any Legendaries or high-tier normal options like the ones mentioned above.
GO BATTLE LEAGUE | PvP RANKING |
---|---|
Great League | #684 |
Ultra League | #539 |
Master League | #328 |
8. Flareon

- Type: Fire
- Weaknesses: Ground, Rock, and Water
- Resistances:Bug, Fairy, Fire, Grass, Ice, and Steel
- Best moveset: Ember + Superpower & Flamethrower
Unless you have a soft spot for the Fire-type Eeveelution, or you just want to complete your collection, it’s best to avoid Flareon. It has no use in PvP and is outclassed when it comes to Raids and Gyms.
It’s not terrible by any means, but when there are so many non-Legendary Fire-types to choose from that can do better, like Charizard, Darmanitan, and Arcanine, your resources are best spent elsewhere.
GO BATTLE LEAGUE | PvP RANKING |
---|---|
Great League | #668 |
Ultra League | #519 |
Master League | #234 |
Stat comparison
While the base stats of the Eeveelutions aren’t as important as how they actually perform in real scenarios, it’s still interesting to note them down and consider them.

How to evolve Eevee with the nickname method in Pokemon Go
Evolving Eevee into any of its evolutions requires 25 Candy, but without following certain indications, you’ll only get the first three forms, Vaporeon, Jolteon, or Flareon, randomly.
If you have an Eevee with great stats that you want to evolve into a particular form, you can use the nickname trick. By renaming your Eevee, you can secure the evolution you desire.
- Umbreon: Tamao
- Sylveon: Kira
- Vaporeon: Rainer
- Glaceon: Rea
- Espeon: Sakura
- Leafeon: Linnea
- Jolteon: Sparky
- Flareon: Pyro
