The Steel Golem known as Registeel was introduced to the franchise in Gen 3’s Hoenn region as part of the Legendary Giants group along with Regice, Regirock, Regieleki, Regidrago, and Regigigas.
Since its debut in Niantic’s game, Registeel has been popping in and out of the top spots of the Go Battle League, mainly in the Ultra League.

Registeel weaknesses in Pokemon Go
Registeel is a pure Steel-type, meaning it’s fairly straightforward in terms of what its biggest weaknesses are: Fire, Ground, and Fighting. Focus on these types when building your team, and you’ll have a good chance at success.
In terms of strengths, Registeel will have no problem taking down Bug, Dragon, Fairy, Flying, Grass, Ice, Normal, Psychic, Rock, Steel, and Poison-type Pokemon, so avoid taking all of these into battle wherever possible.

How to get Registeel in Pokemon Go
Just like with other Legendaries, the most common way to get Registeel in Pokemon Go is through 5-Star Raid battles, as it doesn’t spawn in the wild or hatch from Eggs. This means trainers will have to challenge and defeat the Golem to attempt a catch with the Premier Balls they receive after the battle.
Those searching for Registeel can find it as a Raid boss on June 23, 2025, along with Regice and Regirock as part of the Ancients Recovered event. Then, the three of them will join Regieleki, Regidrago, and Regigigas for one final appearance on June 27, 2025.
During its run as a Raid boss, Registeel will know the Charged Move: Zap Cannon.

Besides 5-Star Raids, there have been other ways to acquire Registeel in the game throughout the years. From Research Tasks to rescue its Shadow version from Giovanni. However, those are not currently available.

Can Registeel be Shiny?
Yes, Registeel can be Shiny in Pokemon Go, as this special variation was added to the game at the start of the A Colossal Discovery event back in 2019.
NIANTIC/DEXERTOUnlike Shiny Regice and Shiny Regirock, Shiny Registeel can be easily spotted, as its light gray body changes to aquamarine and the dark gray parts turn brown.
It’s worth noting, though, that the odds of finding a Shiny Pokemon are very low, as there’s no special technique or method to secure an encounter. The only thing trainers can do to increase their chances is to hunt as many Registeel as they can.
