Regice was introduced to the franchise in Gen 3’s Hoenn region as part of the Legendary Giants group along with Regirock, Registeel, Regieleki, Regidrago, and Regigigas.
Although it tends to be a little overshadowed by the other titans – mainly in the game‘s PvP – it’s still a good Ice-type creature to have. Plus, collectors will need one to complete their Pokedex.

Regice weaknesses in Pokemon Go
As a pure Ice-type Pokemon, Regice has a few obvious weaknesses you’ll want to exploit when going up against it: Fire, Fighting, Rock, and Steel. Focus on bringing Pokemon of these types (and matching movesets) into battle for the best chance of success.
Remember that Regice is resistant to fellow Ice creatures, so avoid using them at all costs.

If you don’t have any of the creatures mentioned, go with their alternative or regular versions, or just use your best attackers to target Regice’s weaknesses. Remember that they should be properly leveled up and know the matching movesets.
How to get Regice in Pokemon Go
The Ice giant doesn’t spawn in the wild or hatch from Eggs, so the best way players can get Regice in Pokemon Go is through 5-Star Raid battles. This means trainers will have to challenge and defeat it to attempt a catch with the Premier Balls given after the battle – the amount they get will depend on their performance during the fight.
Those after Regice are in luck, as the Ice Golem will appear as a Raid Boss on June 23, 2025. along with Regirock and Registeel as part of the Ancients Recovered event. Then, the three of them will join Regieleki, Regidrago, and Regigigas for one final appearance on June 27, 2025.
During time in the spotlight, Regice will know the Charged Move: Thunder.

Previously, players could also earn an encounter with Regice as a reward for completing Research tasks, and currently, they can rescue its Shadow variant from Giovanni‘s grasp.

Can Regice be Shiny?
Yes, Regice can be Shiny in Pokemon Go, as this special variation was added to the game at the start of the A Colossal Discovery event back in 2019.
NIANTIC/DEXERTOUnfortunately for eager Shiny hunters, Shadow Shiny Regice is quite a disappointment. Its body color only becomes a little darker than usual, making it barely noticeable.
It’s worth noting, though, that the odds of finding a Shiny Pokemon are very low, as there’s no special technique or method to secure an encounter. The only thing trainers can do to increase their chances is to hunt as many Regice as they can.
