So if you’re eager to fill your Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Pokedex, there are plenty of trade codes you can use in the game.
Every mainline Pokemon game has exclusive creatures that can only be caught in one version, and that’s no different in Scarlet & Violet, meaning there are quite a few creatures that you’ll only be able to get by trading with a friend or visiting their game.
But what if you don’t have any friends who are playing the opposite version of the game? That’s where trade codes come into play — and we’ve gathered all of them here to help you get that sought after ‘mon much easier.
Scarlet & Violet version exclusives trade codes
Some Pokemon only appear in either Scarlet or Violet, so these codes are designed to help you swap version exclusives, including those added in The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC.
The list below puts Scarlet’s version exclusive codes first in the ‘Pokemon 1’ column, but the codes are the same regardless of which version you own.

To set up a trade, you’ll need to enter the code (you can find out how to do that here) and make sure the Trainer you’re paired with has the version exclusive Pokemon you need. If they don’t, simply exit the trade and try again.
The Pokemon CompanyScarlet & Violet Paradox Pokemon trade codes
Each version of the game also has an exclusive type of Paradox Pokemon, with Scarlet focusing on ancient forms and Violet centring around the future ones.

As most players know, certain Pokemon only evolve when traded, and sometimes also require holding a specific item to trigger the process. These codes and held items will help you catch ‘them ’em all:

Scarlet & Violet starters trade codes
The second part of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC, The Indigo Disk, added every starter from all previous generations to Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. Here are the codes you can trade them for:

Before you trade your only starter Pokemon, you’ll want to breed more of it, so make sure you do that first. You can do this by setting up a picnic with only a Ditto and your starter ‘mon in your party.
After a while, eggs should begin to appear in the picnic basket next to the table. Then it’s simply a case of adding the egg to your party and waiting for it to hatch.

How to use trade codes
The Pokemon CompanyIf you want to trade with other trainers using a trade code, you’ll first need to go online and head to the Poke Portal. With that done, here’s how to trade with other Trainers using a code:
- Make sure your game is online by opening the menu with X and then pressing L.
- Once you’re connected to the internet, head to the Poke Portal menu.
- Select Link Trade.
- Enter your trade code from the tables above then select ‘Begin Searching’.
- Choose the Pokemon you want to trade.
- Check that your trade partner has chosen the Pokemon you want before confirming.
It’s worth remembering that Scarlet & Violet have been out for quite a while now, so you might struggle to find partners for certain trades — especially at unusual times.
What are trade codes in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet?
Trade codes are unified codes (officially known as Link Codes in the game) that let you arrange Pokemon exchanges with Trainers around the world to get the creatures you both want, whether that’s swapping a Quaxly for a Fuecoco or trading a Scarlet-exclusive Scream Tail for a Violet-exclusive Iron Bundle.
On the lists, you’ll find all of the Pokemon Scarlet & Violet trade codes you need to get version exclusives, starters, Paradox Pokemon, and Trade Evolutions, as well as the recent exclusive ‘mons, added in The Teal Mask and The Indigo Disk DLC.
