The Legendary Tapu Fini is returning to Pokemon Go‘s 5-Star Raids, so we’ve got all the details you need to defeat this Guardian Deity, including its weaknesses and best counters.
The Alola region has four Guardian Deities – Tapu Fini, Tapu Bulu, Tapu Koko, and Tapu Lele – and while all of them have Fairy as their secondary typing, each boast a different primary one.
The Water-type Legendary, Tapu Fini, is returning to Niantic’s mobile game due to the latest Raid rotations. So, here are the swordfish-like creature’s weaknesses and best counters in Pokemon Go.
Tapu Fini weaknesses in Pokemon Go
Tapu Fini is a dual Water/Fairy-type Pokemon, which means it’s weak against Electric, Grass, and Poison-type attacks. While it may seem like the options are slim, there are plenty of incredible fighters that fit the mentioned types that can take down Tapu Fini fast.
As for resistances, you’ll want to avoid using Bug, Dark, Dragon, Fighting, Fire, Ice, and Water-type attacks wherever possible, as they won’t do much damage – particularly Dragon moves.

Can Tapu Fini be Shiny?
Yes, Tapu Fini can be Shiny in Pokemon Go, as this special variation was added to the game a year after its debut, in May 2023.

Similar to the other Shiny Guardian Deities, Shiny Tapu Fini is extremely beautiful and elegant-looking, mainly due to its black body, which is usually purple.
This very distinctive color scheme makes it very easy for players to recognize it when they come across one. However, they should keep in mind that the odds of finding a Shiny Tapu Fini are very low, as there’s no technique or special method to ensure an encounter. The only thing trainers can do to increase their chances is take on as many Tapu Fini Raids as they can.
