Mega Heracross is a strong dual Bug/Fighting-type attacker in Pokemon Go, so those looking to exploit its full potential should know what movesets to use for both PvP and Raid battles.
Gen 2’s well-remembered Heracross was a force to be reckoned with in the Johto region. So, it’s not a shock that its Mega Evolved form, Mega Heracross, is even more powerful in Niantic’s mobile game.
This mighty fighter has an incredibly high Attack stat, decent resistances due to its type combination, and a versatile move pool to try different approaches in battle.
So, check out Mega Heracross‘s best movesets for PvP and Raids now that it’s returning to the game during the Might and Mastery season with the Sparring Partners event.
It’s worth noting that Mega Evolutions cannot participate in the Battle League, but from time to time, there’s a special Master League: Mega Edition that allows them to fight.
Best moveset for PvP
The best moveset for Mega Heracross in Pokemon Go for PvP play consists of Counter as a Fast Move and Rock Blast as the Charged Move.
Mega Heracross only has two Fast Moves, and Struggle Bug is clearly a low-quality attack compared to Counter, so use the Fighting-type move instead.
As for the Charged Moves, Mega Heracross now has access to Rock Blast, so go with it for a spammy move that can bait the opponent’s shields. More so, the Rock-type move widens the Pokemon’s coverage, targeting two of its weaknesses: Fire and Flying.
If you can afford a secondary Charged Move, go with Megahorn for an outstandingly strong Bug-type nuke or Close Combat for a cheap and strong Fighting-type finisher – though be careful with its self-debuff.

Best moveset for Raids
For Pokemon Go Raids, Mega Heracross’ best moveset is Struggle Bug as the Fast Move and Megahorn as the Charged Move.
Raid battles are better played with only one type of moveset. But because of how good Mega Heracross is, players can go with either a full Bug or full Fighting-type moveset.
In the first scenario, use Struggle Bug and Megahorn for a 17.08 DPS and 342.4 total damage output. In the second one, go with Counter and Close Combat for an 18.84 DPS and 377.6 total damage output.
However, if you ever come across an opponent weak to both of Mega Heracross’s types, then you can mix up Counter with Megahorn for maximum damage.
All moves Mega Heracross can learn in Pokemon Go

- Struggle Bug (Bug/STAB)
Mega Heracross Charged Moves

- Earthquake (Ground)
