The Galarian starters’ final stages got their Gigantamax forms in Pokemon Go, so if you come across Gigantamax Cinderace, here’s how to challenge this gigantic rabbit.
Since the Max Out Season introduced Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokemon to Niantic’s game, these enormous creatures have continued to debut once every other month.
However, to give worldwide players a treat during the Go Fest 2025 in-person events, the Galarian starters – Rillaboom, Cinderace, and Inteleon – got their Gigantamax forms with weekly global free-to-play events.
Now that all of them have had their time in the spotlight, they are back for one more final spin, and here’s how you can take care of the Fire-type speedster, Gigantamax Cinderace.
Gigantamax Cinderace weaknesses in Pokemon Go
The mighty Gigantamax Cinderace is a pure Fire-type Pokemon, which means it is weak against Ground, Rock, and Water-type moves. Even though there are not many Ground or Rock-type D and G-Max Pokemon, there are enough Water types to build a strong team.
On the other hand, avoid using any Fairy, Bug, Fire, Grass, Ice, or Steel-type attack, as they won’t be able to deal significant damage to Cinderace.
Remember that only fellow Gigantamax or Dynamax Pokemon are eligible in Max Battles.
Gigantamax Cinderace best counters
Even though Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokemon are still very new to the game, there are plenty of good choices available to take G-Max Cinderace down.
POKEMON | SPRITE | BEST MOVESET |
---|---|---|
Inteleon (Gigantamax) | ![]() | Water Gun & G-Max Hydrosnipe |
Kingler (Gigantamax) | ![]() | Mud Shot & G-Max Foam Burst |
Inteleon (Dynamax) | ![]() | Water Gun & Max Geyser |
Excadrill (Dynamax) | ![]() | Mud-Slap & Max Quake |
Urshifu Rapid Strike Style (Dynamax) | ![]() | Waterfall & Max Geyser |
Blastoise (Gigantamax) | ![]() | Water Gun & G-Max Cannonade |
Kingler (Dynamax) | ![]() | Bubble & Max Geyser |
Blastoise (Dynamax) | ![]() | Water Gun & Max Geyser |
The absolute best choices are Gigantamax Inteleon and Gigantamax Kingler, as they can target two of Gigantamax Cinderace’s weaknesses (Water and Ground) without playing into any of its resistances.
If you are missing any of those, you can go for their alternate Dynamax forms or switch to another Pokemon from the list. Remember that overall, Gigantamax forms are superior, as they deal way more damage than their Dynamax counterparts.
How to get Gigantamax Cinderace in Pokemon Go
As with other G-Max forms, Gigantamax Cinderace can only be obtained through 6-Star Max Battles. This means players must challenge and defeat it for a chance to capture it with the Premier Balls given after the battle – the amount they get will depend on their performance during the fight.
Gigantamax Cinderace will appear as a Max Battle boss from June 23, 2025, until June 27, 2025, along with Gigantamax Rillaboom and Gigantamax Inteleon as part of the Ancients Recovered event.
Keep in mind, though, that as of May 13, players can join Max Battles remotely. This means they can use Remote Raid Passes to jump into Power Spots from wherever they are.

To join a Gigantamax battle, players must pay 800 Max Particles, which can be collected from visiting such Power Spots daily. If you fail to defeat the Max Battle boss, the MPs will be returned so you can try again.
It’s worth noting that these special creatures cannot be caught in their gigantic forms, so after defeating Gigantamax Cinderace, trainers will have the chance to try and catch a regular Cinderace with the Gigantamax ability.
How to evolve Cinderace into Gigantamax Cinderace
While Gigantamax Pokemon are stronger forms of a particular creature, they are not considered evolutions, as they are temporary forms that are limited to battles.
This means players cannot evolve Cinderace into Gigantamax Cinderace. Instead, they can defeat and catch a regular Cinderace with the Gigantamax ability.
That way, when a player uses it in a Max Battle, once the Max Meter is full, it will turn into its enormous form for three turns. Then, it will go back to its standard shape, and players can gather more Max Particles to switch its form again.

Gigantamax Cinderace CP in Pokemon Go
As with every Raid Boss in the game, the CP Gigantamax Cinderace has during a Max battle won’t be the same once you manage to catch it after defeating it. Plus, certain types of weather can increase such CP.
Raid Boss CP | TBD |
CP range once captured | 1646 – 1724 |
Max CP (Level 50) | 3412 |
Gigantamax Cinderace stats & moves

Can Gigantamax Cinderace be Shiny?
No, Gigantamax Cinderace cannot be Shiny in Pokemon Go, as of yet.
Typically, Shinies debut a year after their regular versions, and since Scorbunny (Cinderace’s base stage) was introduced in September 2024, players will likely have to wait until 2025’s second half to see if its Shiny version is unlocked.

When Shiny Gigantamax Cinderace is eventually added to the game, players will be able to recognize it easily as the differences are noticeable. For starters, its fur is not white anymore, it’s gray. Plus, the red on its forehead, pants, and feet turn orange, and the blue details around its shoulders, waist, and legs change to white.
It’s worth noting that the odds of coming across a Shiny Pokemon are very low, and there’s no special method to secure an encounter. All players can do to increase their chances of finding this exceptional creature (once it debuts) is to take on as many Max Battles as they can.
