A huge event schedule is underway for Pokemon Go in August 2025, so we’ve compiled a full list of dates from Community Days to Spotlight Hours and exciting celebrations like the Dark Skies and Go Fest 2025: Max Finale events.
Despite launching on mobile devices over eight years ago, Pokemon Go still has a massive community of players worldwide who log in every day to catch ’em all and battle with friends. A big reason is the events that Niantic hosts in the game.
In addition to the monthly Community Days and weekly Spotlight Hours, which focus on a specific Pokemon, there are always themed events that celebrate everything from Halloween to the release of new mainline games like Scarlet & Violet.
Below, you’ll find information on every major event happening this month in Pokemon Go, and details on its Spotlight Hours, Community Days, and any Research Breakthroughs.
All upcoming Pokemon Go events in August 2025
Delightful Days: Taken Over! (August 11 – August 17)

A new Taken Over is on the way, and Team Go Rocket is going all out. Shadow Raids get a shake-up with Grunts and Leaders using new Shadow Pokemon, while Giovanni exploits Shadow Giratina (Altered Form)’s full power.
The event will run from August 11 until August 17, and will debut Shiny Shadow Kyogre in 5-Star Raids. Moreover, Shiny Salandit can be hatched from Eggs for the first time, and players can use Charged TMs to help a Shadow creature ditch the Charged Move Frustration.
2025 Pokemon World Championships (August 15 – August 17)

Pokemon Go is going global as the 2025 World Championships land in Anaheim, and fans at home can get in on the action, too.
A special Worlds Tee avatar item drops during the Day 1 livestream, so be ready to grab that code. In-game, a three-day event brings the debut of Pikachu in a varsity jacket (with a Shiny chance), boosted wild spawns, and extra Go Battle League encounters.
You’ll also score up to x5 Special Trades per day, Raid bosses like Lapras and Honedge, and premium goodies through a Timed Research – including Guzzlord, Carbink, and loads of Stardust.
Shadow Raid Weekend (August 16 – August 17)

As part of the Delightful Days: Taken Over event, Shadow Kyogre will get its Shiny variant during a special weekend.
The event will run from August 16, 2025, at 6:00 AM until August 17, 2025, at 10:00 PM local time, where players will have multiple chances to challenge Shiny Shadow Kyogre in 5-Star Raids.
Additionally, players will get one extra Raid Pass from spinning Photo Discs at Gyms each day during the event hours.
Dark Skies (August 18 – August 23)

Dark Skies is the prelude to the Go Fest 2025: Max Finale, which will debut the intimidating Legendary, Eternatus.
To prepare for the finale, players can take advantage of the Dark Skies event, which will run from August 18 until August 23, to catch every released Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokemon, as they will take over Power Spots with specific rotations.
Crowned Sword Zacian and Crowned Shield Zamazenta will also return to 5-Star Raids with Shiny potential. Plus, players will have boosted Max Particle caps, a Remote Raid limit increase, and more.
Go Fest 2025: Max Finale (August 23 – August 24)

After having another shot at all the already released Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokemon in the game in Dark Skies, players will have the chance to finally challenge the incredibly intimidating Eternatus in its Eternamax form during the Go Fest 2025: Max Finale.
The event will run for two days – starting August 23 – and every player will get free access to the Legendary. However, Eternatus can only be caught once, and it will require a massive amount of Candy to reach its Eternamax form.
Luckily, the Go Pass and Go Pass Deluxe will provide significant amounts of Candy and Candy XL.
Sunkissed Shores (August 25 – August 31)

Sunkissed Shores splashes into Go from August 25 to August 31, 2025, and it’s bringing some serious beachy vibes with Dondozo – the Big Catfish Pokemon – making its epic debut in 3-Star Raids (and yes, its Shiny variation is out there if you’re lucky).
On the wild side, expect an influx of splashy spawns: Psyduck, Shellder, Marill, Wingull, Sandygast, Lechonk, and regional Oricorio forms (Baile, Pom‑Pom, Pa’u, Sensu). Plus, a rare shot at Alolan Exeggutor.
The event will also feature Raid rotations, two Paid and free Timed Research, and Web deals.
Rookidee Community Day (August 30)

The Rookidee Community Day swoops in on Saturday, August 30, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM local time, with the Tiny Bird Pokemon flooding wild spawns – and yes, its Shiny version is up for grabs.
Trainers who evolve it into Corvisquire and eventually Corviknight (by September 6) will be able to teach it the exclusive move Air Cutter. Plus, there will be a ton of bonuses, including 1/4 hatch distance, x2 catch Candy, boosted Candy XL odds, and so much more.
