Psychic-type Legendary Cresselia is one of the most powerful creatures in Pokemon Go, so those who want to challenge it in Raid battles will need to know its weaknesses and how to counter them.
The fourth generation of Pokemon introduced fans of the franchise to Cresselia, a Psychic-type Legendary that can hold its own in Niantic’s game, mainly in the Battle League.
Trainers looking for their first Cresselia, its Shiny version, or one with perfect IVs, will have the chance to challenge this mighty Legendary now that it’s back as a Raid boss. So you better learn its weak spots and pick the perfect team to take it down fast.
Cresselia weaknesses in Pokemon Go
Cresselia is a pure Psychic-type Pokemon, which means the Legendary is weak to Bug, Ghost, and Dark-type moves. While Bug creatures are usually left behind as they are not as powerful as other types, there are plenty of Ghost and Dark Pokemon players can consider for building their perfect team.
It does, however, resist Psychic and Fighting-type moves, so avoid using those attacks when you face it in battle as they won’t deal significant damage.

We’ve included a mix of Megas, Legendaries, Shadow, and more common Pokemon in the table above, so there should be something for every trainer to use.
If you don’t have any of the creatures mentioned, go with their alternative or regular versions, or just use your best Bug, Dark, and Ghost-type attackers to target Cresselia’s weaknesses. Remember that they should be properly leveled up and know the matching movesets.
How to get Cresselia in Pokemon Go
Similar to other Legendaries, players can only obtain Cresselia through Pokemon Go Raid battles. They will have to challenge and defeat it first, to then attempt a catch using the Premier Balls given. The number of Balls each player gets will depend on their battling performance.
As part of the most recent Raid rotations of the Might and Mastery season, Cresselia will appear as a 5-Star Raid boss from April 21, 2025, until May 1, 2025, giving players plenty of time to gather their best teams and go up against it.

Additionally, the Psychic-type Legendary will be the center of a Raid Hour on April 23, 2025, from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM local time.
When challenging this creature, try to use Golden Razz Berries and land Excellent Curveball Throws to increase your chances of catching it.
Cresselia CP in Pokemon Go
As with every Raid Boss in the game, the CP Cresselia has during a Raid battle won’t be the same once you manage to catch it after defeating it. Plus, certain types of weather can increase such CP.
Raid Boss CP | 33,794 |
CP range once captured | 1555 – 1633 |
Windy weather CP range | 1944 – 2041 |
Cresselia max CP (Level 50) | 3230 |

Can Cresselia be Shiny?
Yes, Cresselia can be Shiny in Pokemon Go, as this special variation was added to the game a long time ago, in May 2019.

Shiny Cresselia is one of the most beautiful Shinies in the whole franchise, and players will have no trouble spotting it, as the color scheme is quite different.
While the regular version of the Legendary has a blue body and pink details and eyes, the Shiny variation has a deep purple body instead, with green details and blue eyes.
However, keep in mind that the odds of finding a Shiny Cresselia are very low, as there’s no special technique or method to secure an encounter. The only thing trainers can do to increase their chances is take on as many Legendary Raids as they can until they come across what they’re looking for.
