Cobalion might not be the strongest Legendary from the Swords of Justice trio, but it is still a good addition to any Pokemon Go team. So, we’ve got the best counters to defeat it in no time.
The Iron Will Pokemon is a Legendary creature from Gen 5’s Unova region, and it is known to be the leader of the Swords of Justice, which includes Terrakion, Virizion, and Keldeo.
Cobalion is a unique Legendary inspired by stags and goats. It’s said to have a calm and composed personality, but in Niantic’s game, it can put up a fight. So, to help you take it down, here are its weaknesses and best counters.
Cobalion weaknesses in Pokemon Go
Cobalion is a dual Steel/Fighting-type Pokemon, which means it’s only weak against Fire, Ground, and Fighting-type moves. Luckily for players, there are plenty of extraordinary creatures with these types, so they won’t have a problem picking three to challenge this Legendary.
When it comes to Cobalion’s resistances and strengths, you’ll want to avoid taking Dark, Dragon, Grass, Ice, Normal, Steel, Bug, Poison, and Rock-types into battle, as they won’t stand much of a chance against this beast.

How to get Cobalion in Pokemon Go
As with all Legendaries, if you want to catch Cobalion, you’ll first need to defeat it in a 5-Star Raid Battle. Then, you’ll be given the chance to catch it using a limited amount of Premier Balls – the amount will depend on your battling performance.
Cobalion will be appearing as a 5-Star Raids boss from June 23, 2025, until July 8, 2025. During its time in the spotlight, it will be accompanied by Mega Beedrill.

Additionally, Cobalion will be the center of a Raid Hour on July 2, 2025, from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM local time.
When challenging this Legendary, remember to use Golden Razz Berries and land Excellent Curveball Throws to increase your chances of catching it.

Can Cobalion be Shiny?
Yes, Cobalion can be Shiny in Pokemon Go, as this special version debuted in March 2020.

Those who come across Shiny Cobalion can recognize it by its deep blue fur (usually turquoise) and the green details on its shoulders and antlers, which are normally beige.
It won’t be easy to find, though, as Shiny encounters happen entirely at random and there’s no special method to secure one. Simply take on as many Cobalion Raid Battles as possible until you find one.
That’s everything you need to know about Cobalion’s weaknesses and the best counters to take it down in Pokemon Go. Remember to check out the latest Pokemon Go events, including the current Community Day and Spotlight Hours.
